Valencia Fall 2018 Application

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

I recently submitted my application for the Traditional Program at Valencia. I'm hoping to be admitted this Fall! Anyone else apply or are planning to apply for the Fall semester?! My advisor told me not to get my hopes up as I probably won't be admitted until Spring due to a semester of "processing". But to my knowledge, there is an entire summer semester in between Spring/Fall! Has anyone heard of this?

Have you been told that the Fall semester is full? Yes, there is a summer semester. Back in February, I was given the impression that Fall might be filled by the time I applied - it was implied that fall was filling fast and spring was a more realistic start time. I applied a couple of days ago and the confirmation email stated it was being reviewed for fall - not sure if that is just the generic response to everyone or if it means there are seats left in fall. I assume we will know sometime in June regardless. The good thing is that there is now both an evening/weekend and a daytime program so that should add more seats (unless they just spread the same amount of seats over both programs-I have no idea)

No ma'am, she did not give any indication that it would be full. She just mentioned that it took a semester to process the application. I believe the evening/weekend program takes somewhere around 45 students. That is in addition to the 120 students for the daytime program! I am intending to apply to Seminole State just in case I don't get in for Fall semester at Valencia.

Also, I know Valencia is "non-competitive" however, I'm wondering if they favor students with a higher GPA, teas score, etc...

Anyways, Good Luck!

That is interesting - I have not heard that it takes a semester to process the application. I do hear rumors that they tend to favor the higher GPA's (from students not in the program yet) but I've also been told that it is not true and that it is strictly by the time stamp of the application. I imagine there is some accountability to hold to the non-competitive standard or at least I hope so. If you just applied, I would think you have a better chance of getting in - if it was after May 15, then I would be more concerned. I guess we will see!

For some reason my application still says "incomplete" but I finished and paid for it yesterday í ¾í´·í ¼í¿»*♀️. I suppose I'm just impatient because I'm getting old lol. Did you apply for nights and weekends too?

Did you pay online? I applied for the daytime program 4/30 and paid in person that evening. The next morning I had a confirmation of my application being received. That next day (5/1) I decided to apply to the evening program as well but I paid online and it still shows application incomplete. Maybe it takes longer to process online? Not sure...

No, I actually had to go to the business office and pay in person. It didn't give me an option to pay online. Only either by mail or in person! I did swing by there today though and they were closed. I'm sure we'll hear tomorrow, hopefully.

Ah yes-I remember seeing a sign on the windows saying the college was closed for training today.

So when I applied to the nights/weekend program, I wasn't sure I had to apply for it if I also applied to the daytime one, so I didn't pay right away. Then I realized I was still responsible for the fee regardless because I submitted the application. I went to online payments in Atlas and it had an option to pay for the nursing app fee online so I did. Yes, we will probably hear something on the next day or so. I know it is a busy week for them. I will feel better when all is accepted and all I need to do is wait for their decision.

My application shows "submitted" this morning - I imagine yours does too or it will be today. So now the waiting begins... :-)

Have you called someone about what you said about the daytime and evening time being grouped together? I wonder if for those who didn't get in the daytime gets offered seats to the evening time. I just submitted an application for the evening but I also emailed my counselor and asked if it was recommended that I do that.

I did not call about it since I went ahead and applied to both separately. Initially I did daytime, then realized I would do evening/weekend if it got me in sooner so I applied two days later to the evening program. So I am not sure if I needed to apply to both but I did anyways just in case they process those applications separately. My advisor wasn't sure so she said to ask by replying to the email (from Health Sciences Application Team)that said my application was submitted and being reviewed for Fall 2018. I did reply but did not hear anything back. So I am not sure what will happen - if I get accepted to both and choose which seat I want or if they will assign me a seat in either day or evening.

When you got the email confirmation that your application was received for the evening program, did it say "your application for AS: NURSING PROGRAM evening/weekend was received" or did it just say "your application for AS: NURSING PROGRAM application was received." I'm really curious to whether they clarify the time of the nursing program.
