Trinity valley fall of 2014 adn program

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

Hi everyone

I wanted to start this thread so that students applying to trinity valley for fall of 2014 could discuss any questions or concerns that we might have about the application process. I haven't seen a thread dedicated only to trinity valleys applying group so I thought I would start one. I was wondering if anyone knows what is the most points you can have for the application is it 20 or 21 points? And when do we actually find out if we were accepted? I am so nervous and excited to find out! I'm sure like most everyone else this is my second time to apply since for the past couple of years I have been getting the run around on what classes are actually needed. Well anyone that would like to post any questions or just thoughts about the program that would be great!

good luck to everybody!

I just recently called and found out that trinity valley should be emailing acceptance letters around the 28th of march for fall of 2014. Geez such a long time to wait. Only been waiting since September!

Thanks for posting that. I also applied ASAP in September and have been waiting it feels like forever for March to get here. At least I have a date to look forward to.

Oh no problem more then happy to share any helpful info. Do you by chance know what the maximum point total is? Is it 20 or 21?

I believe the max number of points is 21. The part that is different to me is their selection of the RN to BSN Pathway and ADN pathway. Where one is a 20 point max and on is a 14 point max. And I really cant tell how many points I have. All they sent me is an email with an attachment that has the marked Items that are on file with the application. For the ADN program I am missing BCIS 1305 and BIOL 2421. Other than that I have everything.

All of my classes were taken at another college. I finished my masters degree in Kines and Health in 2009 and then started taking my basic nursing classes in 2011. So if I don't get in to nursing school with TVCC I will have to retake the HESI and some other things. What about you? Did you find out your point total?

Well I think I'm on the adn to BSN plan I would assume. I can't seem to find that checklist they sent anywhere so I just emailed Jeffrey to see if he could resend it. If I'm just looking at this brochure and adding my points I think I have 19. I don't have the point for taking 15 hrs at tvcc and I only have one point for my GPA not the two. Geez I'm just tired of waiting, it helps to have someone to talk to though that's waiting as well. Is this your first time applying to any nursing school?

Oh no that would mean I have 18 points then if I'm missing two points. Oh well guess that's not bad hopefully enough to get me in. I have applied twice to el centro before this so I'm really just tired of taking more classes and waiting. I just want to get started!

I think 18 points is great! Yes this is my first time applying to nursing school and I am not expecting to get in, but I am hoping. My Sister in law applied to El Centro and started the first semester (failed a test) and then dropped out. From what I hear TVCC will be a good school and you should learn alot.

I was going to ask you about that. I don't know which I applied for either, the BSN plan or ADN plan? I would rather the BSN but I don't remember ever picking. I am going to check and see if I saved the application.

Just stay positive. Are you working now or taking classes?

I have heard good and bad about both schools but I'm not sure if its the school or the people telling me about them. Last time I checked the nclex passing rates of the schools tvcc's was better and really passing the nclex is what matters. So that makes me think they do a better job of preparing there students. I think organization is the key to success in nursing school though. I am actually not taking classes this spring I didn't feel like wasting any more money on classes I didn't need since I have taken all the classes I need for nursing. Tvcc is my last hope of getting in. I have taken Classes for so long that my a&p1 is over 5 years old and el centro doesn't accept it past 5 years. So if I don't get in I'm not really sure what ill do. I do work right now full time as an X-ray tech and phlebotomist for an urgent care clinic and I love it so I figure this is the next step. It's good you are waiting to take your sciences towards the end. I had terrible guidance counselors at eastfield so I have basically had to figure out the classes along the way. They also led me to take the sciences that are only good for 2 yr schools and not university's like twu or uta so tvcc is really the only place I can go so I hope it's a good school. Do you just want your adn or do you plan to go for bsn after?

That's probably the same position I am in. If I don't get in I will need to retake some classes and re-think some things if I reapply. It does get a little frustrating because every school has different requirements than the other, then you end up taking a lot of classes. Hopefully it will pay off in the end though if you do go on and get your Bachelors. And yes I do want to continue and get my BSN after, it seems like it would be a relatively simple process to bridge it over. But IDK!

Ya It is crazy annoying how every school needs something different. It's all about the money. I want to go on to get my BSN too and eventually be a NP so ill be in school till forever still. Well I hope we both get in and that way we will both already semi know someone. Good luck to you! that would be super amazing for you to get in first try it would definitely save you some headache. I don't wish the classes run around on anyone

That's so nice of you! And best of luck to you! That would be great for both of us to get in! I think nursing school would be easier to have someone you know going through it also!

I was wanting to continue and get my NP also!! Best of Luck to you and hopeful thinking!!
