When challenges arise and you become suicidal because it is a challenge you may need to find a career which offers little stress. Possibly working in a library or something. Maybe a retail job. The reason medical careers tend to pay well is because they are high stress and there are also millions of dollars on the line (lawsuits). If nursing is the cause of you actually wanting to end your life you may want to reconsider your major. Also you say your professors "treat you like crap". Do you think the doctors and other nurses are all super nice? I have been a nurse for 10 years and I have been ripped apart by doctors and fellow nurses from time to time. SERIOUSLY consider what you are getting into..but don't blame professors or "nursing school". It is what it is..you either do it or you don't. You do not have to do it. You CHOOSE it.

I have done one semester of clinicals, and I have a year and a half left until graduation. I want to be a nurse, but nursing school makes me completely miserable, and I was even suicidal at some points. I was planning on taking a break next semester to regain my composure and work on my mental health before I continue on. For those who have been through school, does this seem like a good idea? I am worried that I will forget information I have learned and won't be able to get back into the swing of things if I take a break, but I am seriously so unhappy that I don't see any other option.
