Seeking info on Chamberlain College of Nursing

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Does anybody know anything about Chamberlain College of Nursing? A friend of mine asked me whether it is decent or not and I didn't know a lot except that I see their advertisements fairly regularly.

Looking at their web page, I see that they are owned by DeVry technical school. It looks like DeVry bought out an old nursing program (Deconess) and is now running it under the Chamberlain name. It's "for-profit" status scares me, but I'd like more information before deciding what to tell my friend.

Anyone want to share their experiences? Anyone know anything?

They opened a campus in Houston a couple of semesters ago- I heard the ads on the radio every day so I looked into it and immediately crossed it off my list when I saw the pricetag. The tuition for the full program- $70,200. ABSOLUTELY INSANE.

The graduation rate and loan default rate at these for-profits are dismal-

You're buying your way past the pesky pre-req and application process of public nursing schools- and I guess if one can afford it that's great.. but keep in mind many of the credits may not transfer if you want to continue your education and you may be stuck with them for masters and beyond- and I can't imagine what THAT price tag would be.

I just granduated from Chamberlain this year from their accelerated BSN program. It is a wonderful school. I don't regret anything about going there. And it is expensive, that is correct.

Hi, I am a currently enrolled nursing student in TN. I am wondering if you still have an opening for externship in Summer 2013. I will be available from May to end of August, 2013.

Thanks a million!

I have a colleague who obtained her BSN from Chamberlain. She said it took her three semesters and the quality seemed average overall. For what it's worth, I obtained my BSN online from UMass Boston and found the courses to be very good and also more affordable.

Specializes in PICU.

I also attended chamberlain. It was a second degree for me. Costly, oh yes. No wait time, check! Amazing facilities, yes. Great clinical sites, yes. Possibly best in the city. Every person in my class passed nclex in the first try. I got a PiCU job right of of school in an almost impossible market.

The cost was outrageous and I still am paying loans back, but to me it was worth not waiting and such.

If you have time to wait, choose elsewhere that is cheaper. For me, getting in the workforce quickly was totally worth it.
