Scared to death about A&P

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

My A&P class starts May 20th, and I am scared to death. This class is the one that will help me decide if I am going LPN, or if I will go straight to my BSN. I am petrified I will fail, shoot I am even scared about spending the almost $500 on the books alone. I know it can be passed, but man, the counselor at school made me even more nervous. She told me that out of the 60 people that start the class about 20 pass.

I just finished A&P I and II with As. I'm an older student so I was very intimidated by the class before it started. It IS hard but it is very interesting and absolutely doable. My top tips would be...make use of the study site from the book if it has one. do the practice tests, etc. Organize a good study group and meet weekly if you can. I got a phone that enabled me to take and label pictures in lab. About seven of us used those photos every time for every practical and did great. There are also videos on youtube that you can access for most lab practicals and for concepts you don't quite get in lecture. I made it a point to rewrite my notes that I took in class into a main "study" notebook for each chapter and that really helped as well. I have to say I'm sad A&P is over now. And I NEVER thought I would say that. lol Best of luck to you!!

There isnt anything conceptually difficult about a&p. It is mostly memorization of a bunch of information.

Specializes in Anesthesia.

I wouldn't worry about AnP so much. Microbiology... now that's another story.

This is the one class I can't wait to start. I know it's going to be a lot of extra time studying but it beats the heck out of essays on critiquing rhetoric  I've told my self that A&P is just the tip of the iceburg when REAL nursing school kicks in. Good luck! You can do it!![/quote']

Agreed! I am so looking forward to it. We begin 5/20 as well. I've been Pre-studying, I know that cellular respiration and tissues are my weak spot so I'm trying to get that down pat before I go in. We cover the first 17 ch during a&p 1 this summer so I'm making sure I'm familiar with the material first.

You can do this! And you'll love it!

The way you think will determine your outcome. As babygirl said, there are unlimited resources. Kick some A&P orifice!

If you haven't bought your textbook yet private message me, I have digital copies of most of them.
