retaking A&P II to get better than a C

Hi, I am trying to retake A&P II with a lab since I got a C in the two classes. My community college will not allow it because the first time I withdrew from the class and it would be too many attempts after getting what is considered a passing grade. I've contacted other private colleges to retake the course but they won't allow you to take just one course? Any suggestions? Thanks in advance!

Welcome to Allnurses.com! We moved your thread to our Pre-Nursing Student forum so it can accrue more responses. Good luck with your educational ventures.

A lot of colleges won't drop the C, and will instead average the two grades together. It might not be worth the trouble. Check with the nursing school(s) you're applying to.

Good luck.

Are you saying that community colleges count it as 1 4 hour course and other colleges count it as 2 courses (3 hour lecture + 1 hour lab)? That is usually how it is structured from my experience.

Could you possibly talk to the dean and tell them your situation? They might let you take it since you only dropped it the first time if you give them a good enough reason and convince them you're prepared this time around. I absolutely love A&P! Good luck!

Will they not allow you to retake it because of financial aid? That you've attempted the class twice, withdrew once and got a C the second time? If you're willing, ask if you could pay for the class out of pocket and retake it.

Sometimes it's not always worth it. At my school you can retake a class one time and while the lesser letter grade is replaced by a R on your transcript and the higher grade is visible, they average the grade points from all attempts and it is used towards your GPA.
