Resigning Today

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

I have my resignation letter all printed out and ready to go.

I have every intention of having a meeting with my boss and turning it in today but I am so nervous and haven't been able to bring myself to do it yet. I have been with this company for almost 7 years now and this is a HUGE, extremely frightening step toward my future and my family's future.

I know this is what my husband and I have been discussing for a year now. I have been working my butt off to get to this point and am so ready to start focusing on school so I can start my new career. I know this is the direction we are both prepared to go. Why can't I do it? Why do I feel like I am going to vomit any minute now?

I really need a good pep talk right about now.

Hello,

You can do it. I have do the exact same thing im October ;(. Just remember you worked sooo hard to be able to do this!! This isn't a negative thing--this is you opening another door and furthering your education! You fought to get to this point, so hold your head high and tell them how wonderful the experience has been, but that you are lead to further your education! You can do it. Good Luck, my friend.

The buildup is very often much more dramatic than the act.

People resign, change jobs, get fired, laid off, downsized, rightsized, reorganized, quit, die, etc every day. It is a fact of life. Most businesspeople realize this often their attitude is more focused on the future than the past.

Turning in my resignation letter so I could pursue a nursing degree is one of the best days of my entire engineering career. My boss went from his usual ranting about his 500 "priority" projects he wanted done to a pleading "What do you think you can do before you leave???"

I ended doing more contract work for the company and we remain on good terms.

Most people understand that life happens.

I'm sort of in similar situation too! I've been accepted to nursing school, but the bad news is that the school is in another state..sort of makes it impossible to work & go to school :) I don't know how to tell them that I'm quitting :( Ugh this is really hard!

Good luck, you'll be just fine! I have to do the same thing in about 6 weeks. I am also nervous, but I know it is a necessary step towards the future!

I'm in the same boat. I'm resigning from my job in 53 days! I'm somewhat nervous about it but I know it's necessary. I'm very excited about beginning my journey for Nursing. You should be too! :)

Okay well I told one of my jobs today that I'll be leaving soon..they took it pretty well & are happy for me...as for my co-workers? Idk..I think they're jealous, but that's they're hang up, not mine!
