Refusing to dissect in A&P or Microbiology?

I was just wondering if anyone has ever refused to dissect an animal for either their A&P or Microbiology class? I'm taking A&P next semester and I'm hoping I won't have to dissect an animal. It's not that I'm afraid; it just goes against what I believe. (Growing up loving all animals, being vegetarian, and knowing how many of the animals end up on tables for dissection). Can anyone relate? If I come across this situation, how can I go about it? How do I ask the teacher if I can opt out?

I would suggest looking into online classes. I know I would be raising hell if someone in my group got the same grade as me for doodling on paper while I did the actual work.

In my a&p class, there were like 6 of us with 1 cat. We did not all get to cut. I didn't cut anything except for i did the fur removal.

There was a group of ladies studying during most of the cat lab, from what I remember. It didn't affect my grade that they chose not to participate, so I can't see "raising h@@" about it. Another section of the same course didn't even require disection that semester.

To the original poster, I hope it works out for you!
