Quit nursing program to join another?

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

Hello everyone! This is my first thread question topic post yay :cat:

I'll make this quick and to the point.

I have finished all my pre-reqs and I am eligible and good to go for applying to both programs.

I want to go to UCF BSN program in Cocoa that starts in Jan 2016, but it's very competitive and I don't know if I'd get in. I am almost certain I'll be able to get in to the EFSC ASN program in Cocoa that starts in Aug 2015. Would I be a horrible person if I got accepted into EFSC and then still applied for UCF and if I got into UCF - quit EFSC and join the UCF program?

Has this ever been done? I seriously doubt I would do such a thing, but I am just curious... what do you all think?

Thanks!

People do that sort of thing. Not unheard of. It is better if you can make the decision prior to starting either program, then it is only a matter of choice with no adverse consequences.

This certainly has been done before. You're not the first, nor the last to consider this. I applied to two schools, the only viable options for me. Had I been able to apply to the local BSN program, I would have done that too. I was selected by both programs to start the very same semester and I already knew which one I would choose if I had to. If I'd been selected by to attend the BSN program and the start date was that following Semester, I would have started at one program and switched to the other. If the difference was a year or more, that would have been more difficult because at that point, I could do an ADN program and then a follow-on RN->BSN program in the same amount of time.

You, ultimately, are the one in charge of determining what your education will be and you must do what's best for you.

You are a free person. You can apply to every nursing program in the country. That is why they have wait lists and why many people get in off wait lists. Apply wherever you want.

Thank you everyone for your replies! : )
