finally found someone who goes to PBSC. this is my first year at pbsc still working on prereqs. Hopefully to join you in PBSC Nursing of 2019!

Hi Sashaaa4. There is always a PBSC thread before applications go in for each entering class posted here. I am just finishing my prerequisites now. I just applied for the P/T program for Spring, 2018, but just missed getting in which was surprising, actually since I thought I had enough points... I still hadn't finished A&P 2 Lecture or Lab, so I am completing those now. Have you taken/planning to take Nur1024? That is an easy way to garner an extra point if you think you need one.

Hey, since u applied before do u remember the points breakdown? I kinda want to add up my points and see if I have a competitive score. I'm so anxious to go ahead and apply, but I know I need to finish some pre reqs first.

So, I just found out there were a few spots held last year (P/T program) for people who had begun the F/T program, but couldn't handle it due to work/family commitments. The school auto enrolled them for Spring 2018 P/T. Also, some spaces were automatically given to a handful of students transitioning from LPN to RN. That is guaranteed for them.

I also just heard that the HESI has changed for this year's entering Fall class and my 26+ points may not be competitive for Spring P/T 2019!!! WTH????? I was advised to check back in July after acceptances to get a better idea of what the current pool looks like after the new exam is given and students are accepted. I am FLOORED by this! The numbers have been going up. Yes. But, up to 23 and 24. Not over 26! Does anyone know what the changes are that have been made to the HESI? Are they scoring it out of 1000 now and what is the minimum requirement for PBSC nursing? Thanks!

I spoke to an advisor and went to a nursing info session yesterday. What you heard is incorrect. They did not mention anything about the average going up by that much. The median was 24.00 and the woman who was discussing the point system said aim for that number. I wouldn't stress about it.

Hi hello everyone I had some questions I just received my Lpn license and looking to do the Lpn to rn program at Miami Dade College it's very competitive there so looking at all my options and applying to pbsc since I saw they offer a transition program that is partially online and class would only be once or twice a week it would be almost an hour and 30 Mom drive for me but willing to sacrifice it for a year lol how competitive is this program and how does the point system work? Has anyone taken the entrance exam they require ? I'm not too familiar with it

Hey everyone! I went to the Nursing Information Session at PBSC on July 10th (this week). Applications for Spring 2019 will be posted around Labor Day and due on October 1st. The numbers are going up again. Here is the latest from the entering class of Spring 2018 in Lake Worth: 95 students were accepted/93 are currently enrolled. F/T Highest Points accepted = 27.41, F/T Median Points accepted = 24, F/T Lowest Points Accepted = 23.28.

P/T Highest Points accepted = 27.56, P/T Median Points accepted = 24.61, P/T Lowest Points accepted = 23.58.

The advisor said to shoot for 25 total points. An interesting change to note: the HESI score being used is now slightly different to award points. Currently, they use the first 3 digits of your actual cumulative score. So, in my case, I got an 81.43 overall on the HESI and I now get 8.14 points for the HESI. Before, I would only get 8 points. This could help some people tremendously.

Anyone else out there applying for the night/weekend program for Spring of 2019?

The HESI is not that difficult. I think there's more people stressing out about it than studying for it. I took it and didn't study and had never taken 1/2 the classes/material they tested, and, hadn't had any math since 1980 and still passed.

I went to an advising session this week and they are now suggesting that people aim for 25 points since the numbers have gone up. See my post earlier for the current numbers that are in attendance.
