Pax Admission Test - Failed

Hello all,

I am so disappointed and really unsure where to turn at this point. I took the Pax exam yesterday for the second and bombed it again. I have completed a number of courses and earned A & B's in these classes but can't get past this ENTRANCE exam. I mean, I have A&P 1 and 2 complete, nurtrition, micro and so on but the admission test is so difficult for me because they are general science questions with nothing to do with nursing but rocks, clouds, physics, and laws I would need to relearn.

If I go the LPN route instead of the RN I may be able to waive this exam but will spend a lot more money for the degree JUST TO BYPASS THIS EXAM.

I don't want to quit. I can retake this exam in the summer and will, but wonder if I am just wasting my time. I read other blogs that say that test preparation is a waste because the cd and book don't reflect the questions (I have both and was going to continue using them). How can I pass the college "nursing" courses but can't pass these basic science pre-admission exams?? HELP! I just want to cry. I live in the greater Pittsburgh area.

I took the PAX on Feb. 17th for the first time, and as it was the written exam, I am STILL waiting for my score to arrive in the mail. I'm really, really nervous about it, as I thought the science portion was very difficult.

I actually just got my score today...exactly one month from when I took it.

I'm very happy with my score, and I used the NLN study guide. I would highly recommend it for anyone who still has to take this exam.

Hi there! I took my exam one month ago as well and got my results today also! I am also located near Pittsburgh. Such a small world. My school had told me that the NLN scoring machine was down and that was the reason for the delay. I am glad that the wait is finally over. I scored well and used that same study guide. SO excited!

I feel your pain Moonmax1: I just took the PAX this weekend and passed the Reading/Vocab with a 78%, but the science and Math I didnt pass. I think I didnt pass the Math becase the Science was so much Physic's. I did study the book and thought I would be ok. I thought they would have more A&P and Micro and such.

I have already taken All Science and Math classes for Nursing and recieved A's and one B+. What do they think they just hand out these grades??? It should be geared more towards Nursing applications!!

I went home and cried, then got mad. I will study more Physic's and take it again. I just think this is just a way to discourage want to be Nurses, kind of like weeding out. I dont have a problem a test for this, just make it better.

Now I have to wait another six months before I can take it again! So that makes me have to wait pretty much another year before I can get on the WAIT list. Just because of this stupid test! I am not getting any younger either, I am 52 this year. Thanks for listening............

I so feell you OP...I took the test this week Failed the math pretty bad. I studied the whole NLN book at least for a good month and 1/2 prior. The book doesn't reflect the test. I am looking for a book that would help me with the math portion. I am not 18 either and I am so frustrated with this test especially when the test administrator is telling you "you are not ready yet"!!!My biggest enemi was time...I totally freak out and did not know how to calculate anymore. Because of this I a losing a year at least...

hey!! even i am soo worried abt the exam.. i dont know what type of questions they gonna ask and that too i am not from south africa. i am from india our education is different, really very tensed pls help me and reply what kind of questions they might can ask.. thanx..

hey, did you retake your NLN exam? were the questions the same? I have to retake my Basic Adult II exam and freaking out about what to study and focus on.
