Part-time CNA while in college?

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

Hey guys! I'm 19 and I currently go to a community college and have two more years until I'm elgible to transfer to a Nursing Program - I hope to transfer to the UCLA Nursing Program to get my BSN. I just wanted to know if there are any of you who are part time CNA's and Full time college students? I plan on only working while in community college and not when I actually transfer. I already have my CNA and I really want to put it into use and work at a facility so that UCLA will take me serious as a Nursing Student. If any of you have any experience being a Part time CNA & Full time student simultaneously, please let me know! Thank you guys (:

Hi there!

I somewhat fit your description in that I work part-time as a CNA, but up until now I was only a part-time college student while completing my pre-reqs. I will be a full time student starting this fall however as I am (finally) starting my nursing program, and I do plan on maintaining a part-time work schedule as a CNA.

It's all about prioritizing and time management. Good old pen and paper work for me: I print out a Monday to Sunday 6am to Midnight grid and use it to A) see where my time goes, and B) carve out time for what needs to be done before the time slots get eaten up inadvertently.

Best of luck! It can be done!

Yes you're right, it's all about prioritizing AND time management! Thank you so much for replying and motivating me into this (: have a great one!
