Nursing prerequisites New York City Area

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

All, I would appreciate if you can share how did you do your prerequisites?

  1. Did you do them all in one school?
  2. Do you have to be a student, in other words can you do prerequisites as non-degree, non-matriculated student? Any downside to it?
  3. I read that nursing courses (including prerequisites) are very popular and as a non-degree student I may not have a chance to register for them a they get full quickly? Could some please confirm that?

I would like to start working on prerequisites in spring 2018, and I have not applied yet. Obviously, the official deadline for transfer (I have master in Psychology) students has passed and I am wondering what can I do start working on prerequisites in spring 2018, and maybe then apply to school as a transfer student. However, I am not sure it makes sense, I am thinking about accelerated degree at some point, and would like to do my prerequisites in community colleges, so not necessarily the same colleges I will apply for accelerated program. As a result, I am just looking to do my prerequisites close to home and cheap, and then take my results and apply for an accelerated program. I am located in New York City are.

Any help is greatly appreciated!

I did most of my pre-requisites in the local community college, then transferred the credits to the university where I got my ASN. The more you jump around, the more transcripts you will need to request every time you go for a new degree. Save yourself a headache.

Enroll as a degree seeking student. It gives you priority in choosing classes over those who are not.
