Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

Hi, I was just wondering if you all could recommend any websites that compare and contrast information specific to various nursing specialties. I would like to learn more about working in NICU, working as a CRNA or NP, as well as other areas and areas of focus. I want to be able to find out what the responsibilities, typical income, and any other relevant information.

Thanks,

hi, im a new user, turnin 19 in aug and im currently studying beauty therapy.

ive heard that in order to do a certain type of laser hair removal (IPL), u have to be a nurse. does anyone know what type of course i would need to do?

i live in south east london so what colleges would offer that course and how long would it be? i would very much appreciate any information. thanks

:balloons: Good for you...Take school serious...take math and english. If you don't already...learn to write clearly/ Take creative writing . Take all the science offered and get proficient on the computer. By the time you get to nursing school and out nursing will likely be all computers. When you are a little older check and see if you can take a Certified Nuses Aide course and work parttime at the hospital. That will give you good experience. If you cannot do this by law then try being a volunteer at your local hospital that too can give you some good experience. READ

Hope this helps...:balloons:

Wow you sound just like me!!! I used to look for info on the same exact specialties. Pretty much all the web sites that I checked out have been listed. You should also look into job shadowing at a local hospital, that's what I'm looking into now. For salary info go to www.salary.com... you can compare any nursing specialty salaries between different cities. There is also a cost of living calculator. Good Luck!!!

Hi Amy...I'm a nursing student in my second semester of the upper division. The best thing that you can do now is to keep your grades up!!! Even though there is a nursing shortage, nursing programs have limited space and it's not easy to get into to most of them. You could also consider taking a CNA course while in highschool one summer so that you will already know the basics once yiou enter nursing school. Good Luck!!!icon6.gif

Hello, first time user here but my advice is to find a headhunter and they can let you know a lot about what the hodpitals and hiring supervisors are looking for.

Hi, Are these also the hiring agencies that book you for employment?

i didn't see the most important link.

http://www.aana.com (american association of nurse anesthetists)

Hello to all:

I'm so glad to have found this website! It is difficult to find other pre-nursing students on the web. I am currently in my second year of pre-req's for a BSN in Portland, Oregon. I start Chemistry and Statistics on Monday. I'm looking forward to applying to a BSN program in October. Eventually, I want to become a travel nurse and see the country and possibly the world. I did volunteer work in Africa for six months and hope to go back again someday as an RN. Later on, I hope to get a Masters or become an NP. Glad to be here!

Jenna in Oregon...:)

Thanks for all the links!! I just joined myself and I really enjoy this site. I'm a pre-nursing student that is excited to be going into such an open field.

hello1 my name is Mandy.I'm a second year student in mental health nursing in the UK. I was wondering if there are any other MH nurses out there?
