NLN/PAX Pre-admission Exam Tips

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Hi, I just took my NLN Pre-admission exam last Friday and passed on my first attended. I used Review Guide For RN Pre-Entrance Exam Book, edition 3 and it really helps me a lot.

Make sure you read all explanations for the topics before trying to do the practice question on the book and every day a least spend 2 hours studying.

For me the more difficult part was English Section because of all those words that we usually don't used often. I looked for every single word that i didn't know and wrote down a short definition next to each one, trust me you would do well on the real test if you do that. I also made flashcards with those words and just try to read it in the train or free time just to be familiar with the vocabulary.

Math Section; if you understand the format of the problem you'll be fine. The test it's all about the topics on the book. Just try to do it fast and time yourself when practice. By the way, the book asked you to time yourself for 45 min on each section but the in the real test you only have 40 min for 40 question , same thing with English and Science (40 min for 60 questions) You really need to speed up.

Science was my easiest section, since i took so many science courses on my previous school. Make sure you read all the info and re-read it if it's necessary. After you do your practice questions, go to the back of the book and read the explanation that comes with the right answer (it always has some additional information that will be useful for the test)

Good Luck

Thanks for posting this information. Were you allowed to use a calculator?

Yes. I was allowed to used calculator, but I understand that not all schools allowed the same. It better to check with your school or testing place.

Oh ok. Thank you. My school says they don't know (which is ridiculous). I figure I'll bring a calculator just in case.
