I don't know about the rest of you but my nerves are shot, waiting to find out if I got in for the October cohort. Good luck to everyone that applied!

I work at a hospital so I already have a lot of the requirements taken care of but individuals who don't are really at a disadvantage. You get the orientation packet through email but I'm not sure how that works for alternates.One week to complete is a really tight time. I think they just want you to start your immunizations and the CPR you do in one day. Same with the physical. The rest is just paperwork so it is doable. If you don't get in this round you will be ahead of the game next round. Regardless you'll need all these things to get into any Nursing program.

Yea, in the email they sent me it said I would receive the orientation packet in a few days. I'm a CNA, so I already have my cpr/bls and I just had a physical a couple of months ago but I think I'll wait to see if I get into the program before doing the background check and insurance.

That's great that you work in a hospital already, they are usually great with working around your school schedule. Do you plan on working while in the program? And do you mind me asking what hospital you work at?

Did you get your orientation packet yet? I can't believe orientation is in two days! I hope you guys get good news! I'm planning on working full time as long as I can, I'm a single mom so not a lot of choice there! Lol but I'm thinking once we get into clinicals I'm going to try and go part time. I don't want to say on a public forum but I work in a big hospital in Newport Beach :)

Yes, I received my orientation packet, but I emailed them and asked for it on Thursday or Friday. I don't know if that means anything about my placement on the alternate list...

I'm going to have to work while in the program as well. I don't have any children yet but a girl gotta eat, lol. I would like to defer my start if I get in but idk if alternates can do that. I want to find a job in a hospital too because right now I am a CNA for children with special needs at a school, so our work schedule is set Monday thru Friday.

I can't wait till tomorrow, I'm so nervous! I doubt I'll be able to sleep tonight, lol. See you tomorrow!d:

I ended up getting accepted into the cohort! So far I'm the only alternate they've accepted into our cohort, so I am VERY thankful and relieved. Now to start fulfilling all the requirements for the first day of class. I go to the doctor next week and will get my this weekend. I am so excited it hasn't really sunk in yet.

Good luck at your orientation on Thursday! Its long and a lot of info to absorb, lol. But, we are going to be nurses in two short years!

To others who didn't get in, don't give up! I didn't get in my first try and I almost didn't reapply! I barely even made the cut this time, but I AM IN! God is good!
