Hello there! I will be starting Micro and A&P 2 with their labs in March and I would love to get some extra materials. I heard that there's an A&P coloring book that really helps. Any feedback? What about for Micro? Thanks!

I'm taking Micro this semester, and I've found Barron's E-Z Microbiology to be really helpful! :)

Just out of curiosity, are you taking any other classes with these two? I was thinking of adding A&P I to my micro, developmental psych and math schedule.

Hey chelsea13! My program is an accelerated bilingual one so in January thru March I have 5 weeks of English and 8 weeks of chemistry and lab. Then from march until may I have both A&P 2 and micro with their labs for another 8 weeks. I already took general psychology which is the one required by my program. Leaving the math (which I'm horrible at) for the summer with a spanish class and social sciences 2. Hopefully will be able to start my NURS classes in the fall. Good luck!

Ops, just realized you were probably asking the other poster. Sorry!

I used the 3rd Edition of the Anatomy Coloring book by Wynn Kapit and Lawrnence M. Elson. It was only $11 on amazon with free shipping and it helped me visualize the muscle groups, but it didn't do much else for me. Everyone is different and every class is different though. My professor made us purchase McGraw-Hill's Connect Plus program for anatomy online that comes with a program called A&P Revealed. It's basically a virtual dissection and helped tremendously. You can peel back the skin and look at different sections, see cross-sections of organs, see the histology of everything, see how muscles move the body, etc.

As far as Microbiology goes, I used the Tortora textbook's online resources here: Tortora, Microbiology: An Introduction 9e

That site provides free practice quizzes and case studies. This website for the Nester textbook's 5th edition helps too:

What about apps for iPhone? Any good ones out there that you guys recommend?

I would strongly suggest that you invest your money in a diagnostic book of clinical microbacteria of some sort, I can't recall which one I used for my labwork but I do know that most micro labs require you to identify an unknown culture and correctly name it. This will help you take an easier approach rather than "shotgunning" a bunch of random tests that are pretty much useless. Good luck Micro is a really interesting class!

Quizlet has a free app that you can use to make flash cards. It's very helpful for Anatomy. Other than that, I haven't really found any.

Thanks guys! And yes, I have used quizlet before and it is great. I made flash cards for the surgical technology program and it helped a lot when I had to memorize over 400 instruments!
