Low GPA students of Georgia

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

Hey everybody!

So I am a pre-nursing student at GSU (state, not southern) and made mistakes my Freshman year. I already retaken my classes and made up for my failure so now I have a GPA of 2.85. My ACT score is 25. I have three more science courses to take and then I am done. I'm going to be finished at end of Fall 2014. Is there anyone else with a low gap who are still hopeful? i'm sure that when i am done with my prerequisites I will have atleast a 3.0. I never was sure about what I wanted to major in until i was told by my advisors to change my major twice. I want to be a nurse, it has always been my passion so I am not giving up! Any advice of what schools I should apply to or anyone in the same situation? My mom did her nursing with a gap in the 1's, she applied to an ADN program in alabama and now my mom is a BSN for anyone who has tried and have been rejected already it is possible. I'm thinking of applying to CCGA?

CCGA as in college of coastal ga? If so that that's where I go..well def g work on your gpa I currently have a 3.6 and a lil nervous...I'd say do volunteer work at a hospital to make yourself stand out on the application and aim to do A in the rest of your science classes..and score 75 or better on the teas test..good luck

I am doing volunteer work as a teacher 300 hours of it. I teach little kids in low income preschools under the Jumpstart program and I also have my CNA license and have experience in nursing homes, should I still volunteer at hospitals? Also, how do you like CCGA? And I'm positive you'll get in for sure especially since you already attend there!

Specializes in ICU.

The whole face of nursing has changed since your mom got her degree. Nursing is extremely competitive. I know in my area even more so at the community colleges. I would make sure I aced the last few classes and score high on whatever entrance exam they have you take. I would look at the requirements of the college and talk to an advisor.

I love ccga i usually ask students about different professors before i register one of my friend who is in the program now did volunteer work at a hospital...im not sure how much it helped but she got in

Hey guys, just wanted to say I took human anatomy this summer and got a b+, I also took nurse 2010 and got and a+ this summer. With all my repeat classes my gpais now a 3.2 but if the schools i apply to average retakes then i will have a 2.9. I have two more classes (human anatomy 2 and microbiology) to take this fall semester and I will be done with all my prerequisite courses. I'm taking my teas this fall and will begin applying everywhere! :] Wish me luck guys, I tried so hard this summer and hope that the nursing schools will view my progress overall!

I also visited CCGA this past weekend, man oh man is that place far!

So how is their BSN program? Do you know what your friend's stats were?
