LI/NY Nursing Programs

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

Hey, guys!

I wanted to start a thread for all LI/NY nursing program applicants.

I graduated with a BS in Biology in 2014 and looking to apply to accelerated nursing programs in the LI/NY area!

I'd love to meet people in the same boat as me and discuss!

Thanks,

B

I am from NYC and will be applying to a few private and all public schools in the area. I will also apply to accelerated BSN, and, if eligible, some generic BSN programs.

Are you applying this year? What schools are you considering?

I am still completing a few more pre-reqs. However, I will start applying this summer. I had quite a lot of schools to apply to but had to drop some of the private schools, like Columbia and NYU, due to their astronomical tuition rates. So, I am going to be applying to:

CUNY - Lehman (ABSN and generic BSN)

CUNY - York (generic BSN)

SUNY (ABSN)

Phillips School of Nursing at Mount Sinai (ABSN)

LIU (ABSN)

Pace (ABSN) still thinking if I should drop this school due to a ton of negativity I have read.

How about you?

I'm in NYC area and in the process of applying to different schools as well but when I review the entrance requirements I find that I'm short one of this or one of that. I can't seem to find one cohesive strategy for applying to multiple schools simultaneously.one school wants the HESI where the other wants TEAS OR THE GPA 3.2 isn't good enough. Does anyone have advice?

I'm also on the same boat as you, I don't want to take any additional exams!

I think a 3.2 GPA is great, I'm applying with a 3.3 GPA! I feel confident about my applications with the addition of great recommendation letters and a strong resume.

How do your prerequisite grades look?

It as if you read my mind lol. I am in the same boat. So far I will have to take 3 exams: HESI, TEAS and NLN. I only do so to just broaden my horizons. I feel rather confident in my abilities to be accepted into the only school I want, but I still feel like I need a plan be just in case I am not. Therefore, I will need to take all those stupid exams. Also, I am taking extra pre-reqs since some schools require one, while others - another. So, yeah...

As far as your question goes, I feel like your GPA is fine. However, from what I heard, many schools accept students with 3.5/3.6 GPAs and higher.

I have so far taken General Chem lecture and lab, for which I got A, and A +. I still have to take 8 more pre-reqs!!! Ugh..

What are your grades?
