Just got rejected.

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

Hello, I just got my rejection letter from College of Nursing at UNM. I was very disappointment, but I'm going to apply to two other schools. I got an 86 on my hesi, and a 3.8 GPA, which was not good enough. This summer, I'm planning in retaking my classes that I got a B+ on, and should get like a 3.95. How did you guys deal with being rejected, and also, do universities usually tell you your ranking? I'm wondering hoping that I'm between the 60's or 70's since UNM only accepts 64 students a semester.

I was rejected my first application to nursing school (no experience, 3.0 gpa), worked my butt off to get experience and raise my grades and here I am starting my second quarter after making the dean's list last quarter. I used my rejection and pain as motivation to get better. Kudos to you though for not being stagnant and actually retaking courses to improve your odds, too many people on here complain about not getting in but won't do anything to boost their chances.

I think you both have the right attitude! Good for you both on working harder to improve. That is all we can do. I am waiting right now to see if I get accepted. Hopefully it will be positive for me. I wish you the best in your future. If we stay motivated we will get there. It may take a little longer to get it but we will succeed! Good luck!!!

I was rejected a few years ago by all the schools to which I applied. My 3.2 wasn't competitive enough. It was in California, where competition is steep, so I moved onto something else rather than did grade repair because I didn't have the time or money for it.

My finances are better now and I have the time and dedication to give it another shot (being in another state helps too). I'm hoping to start an ADN program in Spring or Fall of 2017.

I feel like if it's something one truly wants, nothing can stop him or her. It may not happen when you want or expect, but it can still happen. There are plenty of success stories on AN that can attest to that. Never give up! Best of luck OP, and to everyone else as well!

I applied to nursing schools for 8 consecutive semesters... and got accepted to both of them for applications 15 and 16. Be patient, work on improving yourself and your GPA, and keep on applying until you get in. You'll never get in if you quit applying.
