Just a tidbit of info FWIW....

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

Look at all of the posts on here about how long it's taking to get ANY job in nursing (usually one people didn't really want).

Use that info to decide how much money you want to spend in an iffy market re: getting hired after school.

You can always get more education...but if you don't have a job to pay off loans, that 4-5 years is going to be weighing very heavily on you.... get established- then more education (and the education is good- I'm not saying it's not....it's also VERY expensive).

Be realistic....not idealistic :)

Save yourself some grief - and think like a loan officer for a few minutes

Also- be sure whatever school you go to, the credits will transfer, or it's pointless. :twocents:

Thank you for posting this - it's refreshing to hear this amongst the "it's hard to get a job - don't go into nursing" posts and the "it's hard to get a job, better get your BSN right away" posts! :) Thank you for reminding me that I'm making the right decision for me by going the ADN, then RN-BSN route.

What is this supposed to mean? Don't go to law school because it is hard to get a law job? Don't get a masters in education because it is difficult to get a teaching job? Don't go into science because it is hard to get a pharmaceutical job? Truth is, ANY job is hard to get. And everyone knows EDUCATION is EXPENSIVE.

The economy is difficult now. Things will get better. Often, people will hide out in school getting degrees during tough economic times.

And that's fine- but some kids just out of high school are getting horrible surprises to go with the stack of loans to repay...be educated about getting the education- that's all .... just know what the options are- and make the right decision for YOU..... :)
