Hondros Nursing School Requirements

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

Hello, I Just Got out of high school But i know that i really want to do nursing, I see that you have to take the HESI test which i had planed to take at rets but i recently was intoduced to this school I see on the nursing guide they need your high school diploma and my gpa was not all that great only because my mother got sick and i really was the only one taking care of here while in high school so do they have a gpa requirement and do you offically get into the school after you pass the HESI test? Am really worried if not i will prob have to stick with rets

I'm a Hondros student.

Look, this is just my opinion. But Rets/Bohecker/Fortis lost their accreditation last year and is currently on probation. The students of theirs Ive met in clinical were rude, and they push students to attend medical assisting before nursing, which is just a ploy to get more money.

I won't lie - Hondros is hard - but they have an NCLEX pass rate of 91%, which is the best in the area by far. By the time I graduated from LPN, nearly 40% of the people who started with me had been held back a term for failing a class. If you can't put in the time to learn the material from the ground up, Hondros isn't a good fit for you. The grading scale is rough - 93 percent is an A, 85 percent is a B, less than 78 percent is failing.

As for the HESI, you are accepted if your scores are good enough (generally, above 75%). They didn't ask for my GPA from high school, only that I had proof of graduation. You get an interview with admissions, so just explain your situation and tell them how passionate you are about being a nurse. Go get 'em!

Thanks Everyone For Your Help Am Going To Choose Hondros May God Bless You ALL

Well......

1. Cogent, literate writing is easier to understand, reflects better on the profession, and is good practice for the poster.

2. It's frustrating enough having:

a, yet ANOTHER non-nurse troll on this site

b ignore the fact that as non-nurses, they're not only guests, but on the wrong link of the site with many of their questions

c. repeat yet another variation of the same basic question that they should research in another venue

3. People's disdain for decent writing, and the sarcastic responses supporting bad writing, are disappointing. If your writing is fuzzy and undisciplined, so is your thinking.

hey guys, thanks for the insight on hondros, i hear its tough but do you knwo of anyone that has graduated and gone out of state? or even if they work? Do you know anything about their other school bsn agreements?

I think it's wonderful you think someone who is trying to decide between nursing schools as a "non nurse troll". I know nurses eat their young, but this is ridiculous.

One of the students I graduated LPN with had a terrible GPA; she struggled through a lot of her classes, including English. I was her tutor for a lot of it. But when she got her job recently...hot damn. She works like she was born to be a nurse. In fact, I'm envious, and I happen to think I'm a good nurse - and I have grammatical skills.

"If your writing is fuzzy and undisciplined, so is your thinking." Not at all true, and what substandard logic. It's right up there with "A cluttered desk is a sign of a cluttered mind." How someone writes is a reflection of their schooling and their strengths, not necessarily their thought processes. My father is partially illiterate; he has trouble understanding words outside basic vocabulary, much less writing with correct punctuation. He uses "/" instead of periods and types in all caps. But he's the top manager in the state for his company and has testified on code law twice. But I'm sure that means nothing to you, since obviously, his thinking is fuzzy, right?

Grammar isn't everything, especially on the internet. Being a grammar nazi and labeling every wishful nurse as a troll is just disgusting. You're the troll on this thread; rather than helping or answering her question, you're just berating her repeatedly for her grammar. Congratulations. Hypocrisy at its finest.

To Delilas:

I was a Rets/Fortis student and I promise I have never ever been rude!! Although I do some that were/are.. I am sorry that one or two people can make the whole bunch look bad lol. I figured I am there to learn even from other nursing school students!!! When I was at a clinical site I thought the one person from hondros was the nicest and most helpful person there! I am hoping to re-do my last term there!!! And I agree with your post about the grammer. It is wrong to judge people like that. Most people read on a 5th grade level! lol.. Have a great day!

...the irony. It burns.

Oh, no worries! I am sure there are students there that aren't, and I did have one student who helped me a lot in calming down a patient to give them a shot. Sorry I let it come off that way. It's rough around here anyway, since we often have to share clinical sites. You have a good attitude about learning, that's important. Best of luck with your program!

if you have any further information regarding the bsn, please let me know. I want to pursue that after.

Oh no your right, there are some that are just rude lol! But im sure that is at every school. I am trying very hard to find another school that will allow me to do just my final term. I still am in shock that they threw that Hesi in on us in the middle of finals. and then gave the review after it lol.. talk about a school doing thing in reverse! Fortis is the Winner in that category!

I have not herd much from the BSN at Hondros, but I have herd very good things about the school in general. A friend of mine is doing her RN there now. She says it is hard and stressful but I think that it is how its supposed to be lol! Good luck everyone and thank you for helping me keep my chin up at such a low point in my life..
