Help! Info about WCCCD's nursing program

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

Hello everyone! Happy New Year to you all! I am hoping to gain some information about Wayne County Community Colleges nursing program acceptance process.

So a little about myself.. When I first started college I debated between nursing and teaching. Started taking general classses at Wayne County and then began taking some of the Prerquisites. I completed intro to bio with an A, A&P 1 with an A, Patho with an A (I dont know why but I was told to take this course at the time, although it doesn't look to be a co-req either), along with other general courses. I then was discouraged being very young and hearing horror stories of how hard it was to get into the nursing programs everywhere, and opted to change my major to Elementary Education. After studying at EMU for a couple of years for elementary ed I realize I truly and whole heartedly want to be a nurse and would have so many more opportunities with this field. SOOOO I am starting back at Wayne County in a week. I want to attempt to apply for Spring 2015 program but I am not sure when the deadline is to apply.

My question is.. Will I need to retake any of my science pre-reqs because they were completed in 2009 and 2010? I heard after so many years they no longer count.

Also, when applying for the program is your overall GPA factored in or Just your Pre-req/Co-req GPA?

Any information would be a great help!!! :D
