Financial Aid Questions?

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

Okay so I have applied to both Simmons College and Frontier's FNP program, in order for me to attend either one of these programs I will need to use Stafford Loans to entirely fund my tuition. I do not need living expenses, I plan to continue working full time. My question is after completing my FASFA it states I qualify for the full amount per year for grad school. The problem is the full amount will not cover the first year at Simmons not even considering books and supplies.

After doing some research I found this on Staffordloans.com, "Medical school and health professions students may borrow up to $40,500 per year" So does this include NP school? If so how do I apply to qualify for the increase?

Thanks for your help!

The definition for health professional education for Stanford includes: Doctor of Dentistry, Veterinary Medicine, Optometry, Allopathic Medicine, Osteopathic Medicine, Podiatric Medicine, Naturopathic Medicine, or Doctor of Naturopathy

Sorry no NP :(

Well that stinks, after doing some more research I found that info.

Rachel,

Which school do you attend? I've applied to Simmons although I haven't heard if I've been accepted. It never dawned on me that I wouldn't be able to take out a student loan to cover my entire tuition at Simmons. I was also going to apply to Frontier, if attending either or any school, how has your experience been thus far? I have to work as many hours as I can for as long as I can.
