Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

I am currently in the middle of taking my pre-requisites for nursing school. My spring classes are over in a couple of weeks, and I should end up with all A's for those. Then I'll get a two week break before I start a&p 1 and microbiology for the summer. The a&p classes are what I've been really looking forward to since they seem the most relevant to actual nursing. I've also heard that these classes are probably the most challenging pre-reqs, so do you guys have any study tips or suggestions about materials I should purchase that would help me? Thanks!

I didn't really do anything but read over the teachers' notes and powerpoints for A&P, but for Micro... That class was the hardest class I have ever taken and I have a prior bachelor's degree. I used an app called Anki which you can load onto your phone and computer. You can do flashcards from almost anywhere, and you don't have to waste all that paper. All the features on Anki are completely free, unlike other apps like Quizlet. It was extremely helpful for learning all the bacteria names and the diseases for the final chapters of my class.

Thanks for the reply, I'll definitely try Anki! I had been looking for something besides Quizlet since you have to pay to be able to put pictures in your study sets.

I'd definitely try to space microbiology and A&P so you aren't taking them both at the same time during a condensed summer session. Is there any way you can take micro with A&P2 during the fall?

I made a bunch of animated powerpoints that I would play on keynote that functioned sort of a quiz for the anatomy portion after my instructor provided some for the bones and muscles portions and I found the format to be useful. If you want them, pm me your email address and I'll fwd them to you.

Unfortunately, there's no way to do that without adding an extra semester for my pre-reqs just to take a single class. I already have to take chem 104 with A&P 2 and music appreciation in the fall. I know it won't be easy, but I'm prepared to study my butt off! And thanks so much about the powerpoint, that'll help me a lot!
