Do I have a chance at nursing? California

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

I'm going to be graduating in spring with a B.S. in nutrition. Instead of going the RD route, I wanted to go the nursing route instead.

I realized this sort of late and didn't try that hard in my science classes, so I didn't do well in a lot of the classes.

I have taken general chemistry, biology (general and genetics), physiology, organic chemistry, communication, statistics, and anthropology.

For general chemistry, I received a A-, B, and A

For Biology, I received a C+, B-, C+ and genetics I got a B

Physiology, I received a C

Organic chemistry I received a B and A

Communication I received an A-

Statistics I received a C+

Anthropology I received a B

I have yet to take anatomy.

I want to retake my science classes since my overall GPA is a 3.28, but my science GPA is 3.1

Can I retake all of my biology, physiology, and statistics classes? Or am I not allowed to since I passed?

I also don't have much volunteer work in the nursing field. I volunteered at a hospital for 6 months in the food service/nutrition department, had two internships through school to help educate children on nutrition, and a summer internship in a health clinic in the health education department.

Whether or not you can retake really depends on what programs you are applying to allows retakes and how many times you can retake certain courses if they specify. They are quite specific about retakes so read up the policies the program states on their website.

you could get volunteering points on the application if they accept volunteering but they may state a certain number of hours.
