CSUN A-BSN Prerequisites: CNA and EMT cert?

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

Hi all,

I'm new here, so sorry if this is in the wrong place. I just had a question and thought I'd ask here if anyone had experience with CSUN's A-BSN admission process.

I'm interested in applying to CSUN's A-BSN program. Currently, I work full time in a non-health related industry. I'm taking prereqs for nursing school at night, volunteering in a hospital on weekends, and working full time during the day so I can pay my bills and save up for Nursing school.

In CSUN's A-BSN program info they strongly recommend both EMT and CNA certifications. I just don't think I'll be able to work full time, get those certifications, and complete all my prereqs by the time I want to apply (about 2 years from now).

My question is then: does anyone know how necessary these certs are to get into this particular program? Is one more important than the other (my guess is CNA would be)? Any advice appreciated. I would love to do it all, but I need to be realistic financially.

Thanks.
