Best study tools you can use for nursing prerequisites.

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

Hello everyone,

I thought I would start a thread for everyone to share their best study tips and tools. I think Ankisrs.net is a very powerful study tool. You can download others anatomy & physiology flash cards, make your own flash cards or download others and modify them to suit what you need to study.

I look forward to hearing everyones study techniques. This site is so helpful.

Thanks in advance,

Chris

Google Body (Google Zygote) is extremely helpful when it comes to studying for anatomy, IMO. It was my grade saver as I am a visual learner and obviously couldn't take the lab home with me!

Not a nursing-specific tool, per se, but the Flashcard Hero app for Macs (I think there is an iPhone version as well) has helped me ace many information-dense courses.

You make your own flashcards, then when you are quizzing yourself you rate the card one of three ways:

-Easy. This is so easy I can't believe I made a card for it. (Then the card isn't repeated again)

-Not sure. I think I've got this down, but let's repeat it to make sure. (Then the card is repeated a ways down the road)

-Very hard/difficult. Holy cow I don't remember this at all. (Then it is repeated after just a few cards)

You rinse and repeat until you make your way through all the cards. At which point you usually feel super awesome and smart.

tl;dr Flashcard Hero app is wonderful.

My voice recorder was and still will be my bff when it comes to studying. I take more detailed notes at home to fill in sporifice notes from class. Printing out PowerPoints in advance was also key so that you could you write on it during class time. If you're studying a and p, I loved getbodysmart.com and innerbody.com and there's an app for the phone(iPhone or android) that is anatomy related, its not too expensive but I like how you must locate the thing they ask of you (great for studying before the exam since it tests you ). I did this when I had free time and also the night before the exam.Reading the book and skimming chapters before class, and staying on top of reading is important. In a and p many chapters are tested together, cramming won't be a good idea. Studying daily if you can is ideal, we learn too much stuff in so small amount of time >_
