Applying to Nursing Program (Need input)

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

I'm a pre-nursing student that just recently completed all his pre-requisites. I'm currently a third-year in college and just got declined from my first program at my school. And to be honest I understand why, because I was doubtful of myself freshman year and settle for mediocrity, which I'm afraid still affects me now. Since my freshman year, I've improved quite a lot, but not enough. I have a 3.3 gpa and I'm rather average in my sciences. I'm planning to volunteer at hospitals soon, and I also have applied to other nursing programs. I just wanted some input from other nursing students on what they are doing, and if you have any thoughts to share after reading this. I'd appreciate any help, and thanks again.

I think volunteering will help! I'm like you, I have a 3.3 gpa because I didn't really strive to do the best I could in the beginning. I didn't even know what I wanted to do, so I didn't care much, now its really biting me in the butt! I just applied to a school, I haven't heard anything yet, but even as I looked at my own transcripts, I see showed improvement. So I'm hoping they'll look and say "Cool, she's putting in a lot more effort and cares a bit more!!" haha! I'm applying to a school that looks at a person as a whole, so I'm crossin my fingers!!
