A&P I Spring 2013

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

I did not see another thread, so I thought I would start one for fellow students to chat and get support. Anyone else taking A&P I this spring?

Any one have any advice on how to make this class more interesting? Nothing sticks and it's starting to worry me. Our first exam is in 2 weeks....

I am a little unsure how you're going to cope with nursing if you don't find this class interesting. This is about the human body! :S

Wow, 75 questions! That's awesome Chelsea, congrats! You may surprise yourself btw! I thought I may have missed 6-7 questions, and I ended up only getting 1 wrong total. I bet you did better than you think, especially since our study methods seem to be pretty similar.

Is anyone else overwhelmed by lab yet? We are way ahead in lab from where we are in lecture, and learning all the bones of the skull is giving me major anxiety!

It hasn't been as bad as I thought. I head-started on the bones last weekend, I have about 75% of it down. I was expecting it to be a lot worse than it is. The anatomy coloring book is helping me lots, as well as the mcgraw hill online labeling exercises. With these two supplementing, stepping into open lab with a decent understand makes them stick once you review them physically.

I would be worried if this class doesn't interest you at all. I can understand it not sticking (that can be fixed) but no interest could be a problem for Nursing or any medical field for that matter.

I an taking A&P I lecture/lab with Nutrition & American Government for Spring'13.

Hi, I am taking A&P this spring and im currently studying for the first exam in chpt. 1-3.

We had our first exam and lab practical last week, got a 96 on the lab practical but a 90 on the lecture exam. The scores on the lab practical ranged from mid 30s to over 100, and the lecture mid 40s to over 100, with the class average on both being around 79/80.

The lab practical came first and I made the mistake of spending a LOT of time on that, then suddenly that was over and it felt like I had barely done a thing with the lecture material and oh hey, I have an exam on it in 2 days. I want to make sure I balance my time and energy a little better next time around. The next unit is skeleton and joints, looks like we'll have a LOT to remember oof.

Hope everyone else is hanging in there!

hi! this is my second semester of prereqs. last semester, i took psych and a required freshman seminar. this semester, a&p I and english comp.

we just got our first test back - 106/100.

congrats to everyone that already posted their scores!

have a great week!

Does anyone know classes do u need to apply for the lvn program?

It varies wildly depending on the school.

I got an 87% on my first exam. I just posted in another thread that class average was 71% so I think I did great considering I really don't feel like I studied very much. I wish we had extra credit questions like you guys!!!

That's not bad at all! I think our class average was 79ish, so pretty close! i definitely feel like this class is definitely going to seperate who has what it takes versus who does not.

I feel like the first test is the hardest since you don't know the professors testing style. Now it should be easier to prepare for next time.

We had 4 points extra credit, it's super helpful! There was a question that most of the class got wrong though, so it was thrown out, essentially giving everyone those 3 points regardless. For the few of us who actually got the question right, we got 3 extra points! I was so happy, for sure!

Our class average was 72, and course average (all A&P 1 students was 65)

I'm happy I aced the first test because I dont have to figure out or change my study habits. While a B might be good enough for some, I *really* want to see an A on my final grade. Our next test is next wednesday! So nervous! And our lab midterm is a week after that.

Hows every one doing with their bones and bone markings?
