A&P II - Need Review Advice

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

I am starting A&P II in a couple a weeks and am a little nervous since it's been a almost 2 years since I took A&P I (which was also at a different school). I would like to review/refresh my A&P knowledge as much as I can before class starts, and was wondering what would be the best items to focus on that may come up again this semester. Any info/advice would be greatly appreciated!

You'll want to make sure you remember your different tissue types as these will play a critical role in the structure and function of different organs. I think you'll find, though, a basic grasp of chemistry may be more helpful than anything. I didn't do very awesome at AP1 and didn't retain much from it either. After taking AP1 and getting completely overwhelmed by it, I decided to take chem 1 and bio 101. I found chem 1 and bio 101 were more applicable than AP1. There will be a lot less memorization of things (like long lists of muscles and bones), and more about the ways things work, and work together.

I was very intimidated by AP2 as well, but ended up with an A. You'll rock it!

Thanks so much! Now that you have mentioned it, studying tissue types does make a lot of sense knowing what we are going to be studying. And while I did get an A in A&P I, sometimes the chemistry would throw me off a little, so I will look over my basics again.

No problem :) Diffusion, gas laws, active and passive transport, and chemical bonding are a few things that would be good to catch up on. Good luck in the upcoming semester!

Hope this help because it helped me. GL.

Just finished this in December...topics that were heavily discussed were all processes regarding the respiratory system (diffusion, Boyle's Law, effects of CO2 and O2 on respiration, types of transport), endocrine system (chemical messengers, hormones). Know your histology regarding all tissue types. If you like audio/visual learning, a great website that was companion to our text and was the reason my lowest test score was a 99, is called aprevealed.com. It costs $30 to gain access. It has dissections, histology, animations and quizzes for each major body system. Check it out - I know I will still use this to brush up and review this vital info. Best of luck!
