Hello all! Just got my acceptance letter today for UC, nervous but excited at the same time to be going forward in my career! Any words of advice are greatly appreciated :-)

Thanks, looking forward to hearing something hopefully before Thanksgiving! =) I was denied acceptance to Georgetown University because of the way they calculated the overall GPA I was a 2.99 and minimum is a 3.0...if all the schools calculate GPA the same way then I'm pretty much sure I won't get in...My ASN from Excelsior was 3.4, and my BSN is 3.7 or 3.8, and my overall Sciences GPA was 3.5...but i attended several colleges prior to that and my very first year of college I dropped out with a 1.75 back in 1997...well it's apparently come back to haunt me! =( We will see how things go, but now i'm pretty doubtful I'll be accepted for any graduate program unless I take a few graduate courses and get good grades...sigh...

I got my acceptance email from University of Cincinnati today to start the FNP in Spring 2014! Only took 4 weeks to hear something! Yay!! Can't wait to start!

Yeah for you JBwright! congrats!!! I got an email update from my adviser, I'm in week two right now, application was fully accepted/submitted on Oct 15th...so maybe not much longer before I hear as well...but I applied for May 2014! I also have an app in at Simmons College, so will probably find out from both around the same time! =)

Well Tasha I wish you the best of luck ! Keep me updated!

I applied to UC right before the Christmas holiday to start Summer 2014. I was told by a co-worker "I plan on getting my doctorate with them". That in itself sold me. Am thinking confidently that I will be accepted and have already prepared a fully operational study environment for a huge commitment. I will be working full time and this is the only school I am applying to, which was listed on my application. In less than two weeks from the application they should receive all my official transcripts and recommendation responses and am hoping they notice my promptness.

Hi Everyone!

I applied to the program for Fall '14... I was just wondering how everyone in doing in the FNP program. Were you guys able to maintain working fulltime or did you have to drop to part time or prn...I am just trying to plan for the future what to do with my job..I also have a newborn so I was wondering if you guys think the program is manageable and your thoughts/input on the program so far! Thanks

Hi all,

I am wrapping up Semester #2 of the FNP MSN DL program at UC right now (grad. Dec. 2015). Here's how I think its has gone so far....

First of all, I am married, working full-time (with plenty of overtime to spare), and have a 7 month old son. I found the first semester to be a challenge (Adv. Pathophysiology and Biostatistics). The Biostats class was a little tedious at times, but as with any research class, you have to bend your mind around the relevance of the material. The Pathophysiology class was a LOT of reading and studying. It has been regarded as the hardest single course in the program most likely because it used to be '2' classes spread over '2' semesters, until a few semesters ago when they compacted it to make room for something else. So, needless to say, you will be spending a good deal of time daily learning about that subject. I got an 'A' in Biostats and an 'A-' in Pathophys, so not horrible.

Semester #2 is a bit lighter, and a welcome relief from the first. This semester I have been taking 'Healthcare Policy', and 'Theoretical Basis for Adv Practice Nursing'. These 2 classes are exactly what they sound like, lots of reading and lots of writing. The core material is not difficult, but theory is not easy to learn if you don't let your brain mold around it (not just memorization, but really synthesizing the info). I've learned a lot in Policy and though I probably won't ever become a lobbyist or run for office, the info is really useful to have an understanding of.

Next semester is 3 classes, 'Adv. Pharmacology', 'Adv. Assessment', and 'Care for Women and Children through the Lifespan'. It's going to be super busy!!!

good luck

I am in the process of applying. What do you think of the program? Classes? Would you recommend?
