Hello - Like many of us BSN-RN's trekking the long journey, I am enrolled in the "conditionally admitted" FNP program at CSU Dominguez Hills for the fall 2014. Anyone else soon joining on this journey or taking this journey right now?

CSUDH FNP program.

So much attitude and restrictions.

They keep changing the professor's names and canceling classes when we already got books. According to them you can take only 2-3 classes per semester or you're not getting 'points" for your portfolio application FNP. You will stay there forever if you follow this path.

By the way "Conditional" acceptance means nothing, absolutely nothing. Think of "conditional acceptance" like this - you are conditionally accepted if you decide to finish another MSN role or until you are rejected from FNP program, after you spent 2-3 semesters there for $6000 - $7000. There are 2 classes prerequisites before applying and extra 2 classes prerequisites after the conditional acceptance .

FNP is a PART TIME PROGRAM = 7 semesters!!!!

3 scenarios :

1 semester prereqs and you are done because they rejected your portfolio ,

or 2 semesters prereqs after the conditional acceptance and you done because you passed the portfolio, but got rejected at the second step application process.

- option 3 because you did few core classes you can change your FNP MSN role to something else9administrator, leadership , education..) and keep taking classes in CSUDH until you finish your new MSN option.

Hello!

Just wondering if anybody here took the advanced graduate pathophys class at CSUDH? I'm considering enrolling in it via open course (non-degree seeking) to boost my application for CRNA school. Is the course doable? Is receiving an 'A' possible if I put the work in? How many hours a week will this course require? It's a semi-local school for me, and the cost for non-degree seeking students can't be beat.

I took the pathophysiology at CSUDH 2014. Its doable but you got to bring your A game. . If you ready to spend 10 hrs every week for pathophysiology - then you gonna be fine with at least A-

Hi! I just finished advanced patho at csudh. I loved it. It was so challenging and hard to be honest with you but I passed with an A and the professor was wanting me to do well and helped me succeed my professor often checked in, gave constructive feedback and was supportive. I put in at least ten hours weekly of reading and study for this course.

Excellent. Was it 100% online? Were the tests more memorization (like bio and A&P), or were they similar to NCLEX/nursing type questions? Did you take any other courses with it?

It was so challenging and hard to be honest with you but I passed with an A and the professor was wanting me to do well and helped me succeed my professor often checked in, gave constructive feedback and was supportive. I started adv patho a while back as a non-degree student while waiting to apply to another school. Hopefully they have improved things. I ended up dropping the course because it was a horrific nightmare of disorganization...unbelievably so. It was a VERY challenging course but that was not the primary problem...it was all the technical difficulties and overall course delivery. Hopefully it has improved. If that is any indication of their program in general I would steer clear. Hopefully it was just a fluke?? Good luck.

Hi [COLOR=#666666]RNDude2012. I think the classes are a good mix of memorizing terms and knowledge - you definitely have to know the material or you will be very stuck! First semester was 100% online. Second semester there are some clinical days for the Physical assessment course. [/COLOR]

Hello rN dude! Sorry it took so long to get back to you! I haven't checked allnurses in so long! The course at CSUDH was intense, but the professor I had was amazing - her name was Dr. Outland. The course is doable as long as you put in your best effort. I received an A and grew exponentially as a nurse from this challenging course at CSUDH. I would say it will involve about a good 7-10 hours a week to do A level graduate work. Hope this helps!!
