UIC Graduate Entry Program

Nursing Students Post Graduate

Published

Hi folks,

Thinking about applying to UIC's GEP program. Anybody here applied and was accepted? What were your stats?

My stats: 3.2 Overall GPA/3.5 Sci BA in Sociology. Office Manager in home health care, tech in a medical equipment co, medical assistant (no cert) in dr's office and later office manager there. Volunteering in Nursing Home around 120 hours...

From what I can tell on their website, after completing the NCLEX, you immediately start the master portion of the program. Is this correct?

I just had the most beautiful dream this morning. But I think it was a hallucination ... Because I could feel the tear rolling down my eyes.. April 5th was here and we were all frantically on this website and boom! We get emails about our invites. UIC also sent a list of all the people that got interview and no interview. Next to the people that did get the interview said mode: "relieved" and for those who didn't get in it said: "panic". Lol as far as I remember .... We were all RELIEVED. But there were quite a good bunch of panics too.

Yay!!!

That sounds like a wonderful dream!! At least for all the people who received interview invitations!!

Does anyone else think it was weird that in the email reply, they said invitations will be decided by next Friday, and interviews will be held for the 5th-25th? I mean next Friday is the 5th??

I never got the impression that anything was set in stone. Even after this email. I'm going to assume we'll know by Friday at the latest about all interviews. But then again, the whole process has been kind of nerve wracking and confusing, so who knows?

Gonna try to focus on "spring break" and go see a movie. Need to get my mind off this!

Admissions is driving me crazy. They told me...a month later, that the transcript i uploaded is not good enough for what they want, yet they want an unofficial transcript (which is what I put up) so now I have to request an official transcript to be sent to me to upload onto their website...which probably will look like the same thing.

Oh my! Since when unofficial transcripts have a good enough criteria :/

Yeah the whole timeline of when things are supposed to happen seems like it could change with the wind. In one of the emails I got about changing specialities it told me that applications would be sent for faculty review on March 21st.

When I went to an information session a couple months ago, they said that they look through your transcripts and will ask for a more detailed one if they need more information about certain prereq classes. Like if you said on the application that a class fulfilled a requirement, and they can't find that information on the unofficial transcript, they may ask for the official or they may ask for the syllabus from that class to make sure it fulfills the requirement you say it fills. The official becomes unofficial once you open it. I think that may be why they specify unofficial; they don't want to get papers from colleges.

I really hope this helps! UIC had warned us at the info session that they may ask for clarifications. Please don't stress too much about it!

Okay guys! April is here! Here's to good news, lots of interviews, successful trips/phone/Skype interviews and possibilities! Good luck everyone.

I'm so tempted to call UIC and check on the status of our applications or if there is at least a definitive date the interview decisions will be released. The wait is killing me! So much anticipation!

If you do call them ask specifically - when will they start notifying applicants if the interviews start on April 5. It's 4 days away so shouldn't we be getting notified now or at least a week in advance?

Thank you!

So news! I called UIC and was told we will be notified early next week and interviews will start as early as next week. So there is definitely going to be a time crunch but I'm pretty happy to have more of an idea as to when we'll here! So it looks like 8 days tops before we hear, guys!

Aww man! Didn't they say we'd find out "next week", last week?
