Question about that pesky admission essay - MSN

Nursing Students Post Graduate

The MSN program I am applying to asks for answers to two questions in essay form. I know how to answer the questions, but not sure what they expect in terms of "essay form". Do they want the technical form used for writing essays in english classes? That being......opening paragraph, three body paragraphs and closing paragraph with transitional sentences? The opening paragraph states what you are going to say in the body paragraphs and the closing paragraph summarizes what you said?

I've looked at some sample essays and they don't seem to follow that strict format. They just answer the questions in a way concise, understandable manner. Anyone have any thoughts on this? I would really appreciate it.

Can anyone tell me what format you used to complete your essay? I am applying to UPenn Gerontological NP program.

Thanks!

I am not sure how to answer. I had to answer about 7 questions for my admission and I answered most of them in the single paragraph form (unless they were in depth). What are the nature of the questions? Are they specific questions or a broad question?

I had one essay to do and they only called it a "personal statement". I answered it in the standard format that we all learned in HS English, lol. It was hard answering such a broad question, but I hope I came up with a good answer...only time will tell, right?

I actually have two separate, specific questions. After reading the directions clearly, I think they are asking for two separate essays. I have read some examples and I doesn't seem they are following the english essay format with intro with three points, 3 paragraphs and closing. I don't know. I am just going to start writing and see which way is more comfortable for me.

I had three questions, one limited to 200 words and the other two limited to 100 each. It was very difficult for me to be concise, my first draft was over 500 words, LOL! For the 200 word one, I used an opening paragraph and two supporting paragraphs. I put a brief conclusion in the second supporting paragraph. One of the 100 word ones was a single paragraph and the other one was two.
