charmed I too will be out of town for the holidays on monday night. Hopefully my letter will get here by then. If not, i'd have to wait until the 30th when I get home.

Just curious did anyone take nutrition and chemistry for their prereqs. I am debating whether i should take these courses in the spring or just read ahead on pharmacology and patho. If I am not invited to UCSF, I have two more schools to look forward to. Well good luck everyone. Thanks Star for taking out of your busy time to give us your thoughts of the program.

I just finished up taking nutrition for my pre-reqs at my school - it was really tough but absolutely amazing, I highly recommend it but only if you can find a good program (I know they vary a lot). I've also done two years of chemistry (required for my program) - I do think they're good to know, especially organic (plus because it has such a rep for being a weed out class doing well makes you really sure you can handle science). That said, I haven't found it especially useful in my physiology or anatomy classes, it really comes in handy more at the biochemical level which I do not think (unfortunately) that nursing really gets into.

Urg, one more final exam to go then I can finally go home! I hope I get my letter today but I'm guessing that's almost impossible so I'll just have to wait and see when I get back in January...

I took nutrition in an online program at UC Berkeley, Extension. It is expensive and I don't know if nutrition is best taken online. The book was incredible. . .really thorough. For example, in the chapter on Protein, it covered everything from transcription to translation, essential proteins, and where to get protein in your diet. I ended up doing fine in the class, but I was really stressed for the final, because I didn't really know what the professor wanted us to know and there was just way too much in the book to know it all in great detail. Anyway, regardless of where you take nutrition, if you have the time and the money, I think you should do it because it is such a practical class that you can use in your own life and as a nurse!

On another note, sorry hopeful nurse, I thought "Code blue" was not a username, but a special allnurses code that I didn't know about! I assumed it was some sort of emergency.

Fingers crossed that we will all here something today or tomorrow!

    Hello raysm310,
I shouldn't have been so lazy and typed the 24 after codeblue's username. It's my fault for being lazy.

I had a really weird dream last night....I dreamt I received my letter for an invitation to interview for the MEPN program. I was so happy, i made that letter into a 15 inch trophy and paraded it around.....

    I feel so obsessed.

The mail came and went with nothing to report, but I figured I wouldn't be hearing until after all of you anyway. Run to the mailbox and keep me posted!

I'm still at work and I am tempted to 'go home sick' just to check my mailbox. The wait is killing me!!!

I just wish that with their new "online application" that they could have at least put up a little section telling us whether our applications passed to the next round.

Thanks for responding on the courses. just call me blue if it's easier. No mail today here either. On a different note, I finished my BLS-HCP today to start my EKG tech job in the new year! I wish they would have emailed us the notification. I can't wait to hear your good news!

Nothing here either. Tomorrow I am going to be doing Christmas shopping and the whole time I am going to be worrying if it is in the mailbox. And if it's not, we are all going to have to endure Sunday, which will seem like an endless day. I'm going nuts!

Congratulations on finishing your course Blue!

I too wish UCSF would get with the times and use e-mail instead of snail mail. The suspense is pretty awful. I keep staring out my window hoping for the mailman to come, but he is so slow and he never comes until late! So sad. Shouldn't this be considered some form of torture?

Luckily, I haven't started dreaming about that hopeful day when I receive a letter from UCSF. But, if I don't hear anything soon, I am sure that it is only a matter of time before I start seeing it in my dreams. If I am fortunate enough to be chosen for an interview, I just might frame the evidence! That way, it will be preserved for my grandkids. Oh this is just so sad. . .

Would people mind posting their locations in the "mail here"/"no mail here" announcements? That way we can track where the letters have made it so far.

    Thanks everyone and good luck!
