You know, I wouldn't analyze it to death. I think that she told me that because she thinks people have a better chance of getting in the second time around, not because she thought I would be a bad candidate (that's what I'm telling myself, anyway :-)). The interviewers don't even have access to our files pre-interview, I believe.

ha! i'll try not to over-analyze it but i'm already over-analyzing my application. two and a half months of this is just cruel.

Ok, that would be a bit scary if they did the interview in Spanish....I guess I better brush up on my Cantonese =P

I locked in my application last night too. I hope to forget about it for a few months. I've had many sleepless nights over it.
I speak Spanish and was NOT interviewed in Spanish. I was told that I might be but I think that was a vicious rumor.

Interview day was really fun. It DOESNT matter if you're in round one or two. Interviews were in the morning, tours in the afternoon, which was probably good because you got stuff over with and didn't sit all day worrying about it. My first interview was with a faculty member who was really cool (in fact I just saw her today). My second interview was with a Nurse Manager one week later who asked "why nursing?" That's a really good question to answer for yourself, aside from the obvious: it's a lot of science, psychology, anthropology, patience, sociology, creativity, attention to detail and pure love - every day.

Speaking of, I gotta get to sleep. Some of us have back to back 12 hour clinicals tomorrow. And "12 hours" means 6am to 7:30 pm.
Good luck all. Stop stressing (you'll have plenty of time to do it next year, trust me), distract yourself and please *enjoy* your last few months off before you start this program. I got my letter Dec 22 last year regarding interviews, so hopefully you get a holiday present.

Be proud for completing the application! Yay!

Thanks for the input. I think I read on this thread that someone was interviewed in Spanish for a portion of their interview. I like you're answer better though. I can definitely speak it, I'll probably get so nervous that even my English will suffer.

I've been lurking on these forums for a while and I remember reading your posts from last year and finding out you got in. Congratulations. I'll have the same story this time next year (positive thoughts!).

My GRE wasn't in until October 7th (it was stalled out somewhere in the mail) and one rec got lost and had to be re-sent, and I'm in the second quarter of the program.
Double check on the letters. If they're lost, then they'll tell you what to do. When all the apps come in, it takes a bit for the dust to settle. Good luck!

has anyone heard anything about the neonatal track, in terms of competitiveness? i know the whole program is competitive but in terms of specific tracks i only know fnp and midwifery are particularly competitive.

v517 and Haiku: what track did you apply to?

i'm glad this thread is getting a little more active now that the deadline has passed

    I applied for Adult NP.

Yeah, I'm a little more relieved now that my app is finally in.

I just joined this forum 3 days ago as I was writing my goal statement. Now I can catch up with the 70-something pages of messages from this thread!

I can't speak for everyone, but I know that there's at least one or two neonatal folks in the class. The VAST majority are FNP, CNM, some ANP with HIV focus, ANP with Complimentary focus, 6 ACNPs, and a bunch of CNS folk. To be honest, I have no clue how they determine percentages, but I know that everyone in our class is mature, sure of their pathway, and confident.
I hope I get to meet some of you come interview day.

whoa, that kind of freaks me out. are there only a couple neonatal spots or were there only a couple they wanted to admit? that sounds pretty competitive, but like you said we don't know how they determine the percentages. so it may be that only a few applied and only a couple were admitted. i don't know. luckily, i've been doing better in the calming down department. i actually got 9 hours of sleep last night.
