    Hey Pete!
I am from PA, born and raised. I just graduated from Penn State Unversity in May. I am working in CCU at a local hospital. I went to Penn State Hershey Medical Center for some of my clinical rotations. (NICU and PEDS, and outpatient psyche) I was able, last summer to "ride along" with Life Lion too. Several of my classmates have started their in the MICU and SICU. I worked until very recently for Wellspan.
    PM me if you want.
HELLO! MAYBE YOU CAN ANSWER A FEW QUESTIONS ABOUT HERSHEY MEDICAL FOR ME!! I JUST MOVED TO HARRISBURG AND WAS INTERESTED IN APPLYING AT HERSHEY MEDICAL!! I WILL BE GRADUATING IN DECEMBER! WOULD YOU REC WORKING THERE? IS THAT A GOOD HOSPITAL TO START OUT AS A GN? THANKS
I am not Pete, however, I work At Pinnacle. My daughter started there as an aide and just graduated in May. She is working in PEDS and loving it. they have worked hard to get a program for the grads to be thoroughly oriented.
Last week they had their NCLEX review course. I work in the float pool, and have worked most areas of the hospital. Did you work as an aid while going to school? What is your chief concern as a new grad? What is most impportant to you?

I do like it there. I had worked at Rehab in Mech. and at Holy Spirit before going to Pinnacle. It is my "home". As a nurse there, you can be your patients advocate. You are allowed to speak to the Drs and let them know what you think. Our ICUs are GREAT! I was a pt in their ICU following a Resp arrest, on the vent, in a coma. I do not doubt nursing care was a factor in my recovery. The ICU was recently redone, with nursing imput. It is great! I do like the nursing supervisors.

I have always done LTC namely Alzheimers. I really think I will enjoy it. It is for sure different. I am looking forward to it. I had really wanted to work at Mayview state hosp. I put my app. in a few weeks back with the state. Dont know if I will ever hear back..lol Never know, I guess. Take care and if you guys ever go to lunch in Pitts. let me know, I will be there!

    Hello all!
I currently live in Luzerne County, but am looking to move out of the area. I graduated in May and passed my boards last week. I will be starting work at a hospital in Lehigh Valley in September. I will be working the 3-11 shift on a med-surg floor. Anyone from that area---Can you reccommend areas to move to? My husband and I are interrested in finding a home with a half way point. He works in Frackville at a state correctional institute. Any ideas? Also, anyone have info on daycare? We both will be working nights and are unsure of how to handle this situation. I am due to have my second child any day now. So any info is appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Erin, RN

I am a Pa. nursing student from the northeastern part of the state. I am in my 3rd semester and having a time of it. I know you are all nurses already, but does anyone have any suggestions of how I can cram all of this knowledge in my head. Thanks in advance...

    Hi Lanette,

Some of us are students, I am in my last semester of ASN program. Have you checked out the student forums? There is a wealth of information shared b/w students (and nurses too) on those sites.

Is there a particular class you are finding difficult? PM me if you'd like, I'll help anyway I can.

Hang in there, you are not alone and you've come to a great place for suggestions and support!

Hi there all you PA nurses. I'm a PA transplant from the lower Hudson Valley area in New York State. I now live in State College, located smack dab in the middle of the state, and the scenery is simply gorgeous! This area is home of the Penn State Nittany Lions, and our hospital is now named the Mount Nittany Medical Center where it's my second home. (read my profile) When I moved here, I never looked back, and it was one of the best decisions I have ever made!
Since the upgrades to our hospital, many interns do some of their internships here, and it's easier to get your RN here now.

    Departments include:
    OB/GYN & Labor & Delivery
    CCU
    PCU
    ER
    Med/Surg
Cardiac Rehab and Cardiac Cath, & more
Cancer Center with all the modern care
    Psychiatric
Neurosurgery with a Neurosurgeon who patented 4 of his own procedures.

Several physicians who went to med school at Penn State are now practicing physicians here. Our school system is rated number 1 in the nation, and is why a lot of people either stay here or move here to raise their children.

Hello everyone, I am a student at HACC, Harrisburg Area Community College. I will be applying for clinicals this coming month. Very excited. Wondering if there are any other HACCies out there, it would be nice to chat about the program.
