Is there anyone who has been accepted to the Harcum Evening nursing program for 2010?

I am a current student in the harcum evening program, I remember being in this same postion. Time will go by fast.

Hi Clammbo,

How is the program? Did you guys lose anyone in your class? Any advice you can give us newbies?

How are clinicals? Do you get to pick the hospital?

Thanks,

KC

The program Hmmmm........Did we lose anybody? Yes we started with close to 80 people in nursing 101, we lost about 22 people just from that class alone. The first 6 weeks (nursing 101) is really crazy. Advice....let me be honest here, if you have never worked in a hospital or with Patients this may not/is not the program for you.

Clinicals, well........Hospitals, yes you get to pick your hospital, there is like a choice of 5

Ok tell me more. I work with a very difficult population of people right now, some homeless, drug addicted and most HIV positive. Will I be ok? I work in a City Health Clinic.

I am currently a student in harcum evening nursing program, the abbreviations test we will have to take on the first day of classes does anyone know if it will be matching, fill in the blank, or multiple choice. Please let me know.

for anyone trying to get into harcum or already been accepted make sure you ask about the new policy of ATI tests during your program and about the exit ATI exam you might find it interesting

Oh my God! Did anyone see the NCLEX-RN performance of first time candidates in Pennsylvania who completed NCLEX in the U.S, Harcum has the lowest passing rate in Pennsylvania at 63%.

[color=#000]hi,

i spoke to the nursing program today about ati and not to be sarcastic but it is what it is. a lot of schools are doing the ati testing. in particular is the same way for the ace program and they want to make sure we pass the boards on the first try so their stats are not affected by unprepared students. i know for a fact that drexel will not let you take your boards until you pass the ati exit with a 90% or so. you can read about it yourself and how some of those students are having to do remedial work. harcum needs to overcome their provisional status and low pass rate and if this is their way of doing it then so be it good for them. no one is forced to attend harcum.. hey we are going to be nurses:nurse: dealing with people's lives and that should not be taken lightly. we all need to be prepared and i will do whatever it takes to pass those boards especially on the first try. good luck..

i know i may be too late with this post because you may have already started the evening nursing program.....drexel and harcum are 2 different programs........first let me start by saying yes makes you past the hesi before being able to take the nclex, but you can take the hesi as many times as you want.....harcums new policy states if you fail the exit exam twice you are asked to take an alternative degree, which means if you dont get a 72% on the exit exam on your second try, you can not take the nclex. so how do you become a rn? you have to go to nursing school all over again, and pay all over again. so i can only imagine the look on a persons face who takes the exit exam for the second time and gets a 70%....although according to ati if you get a 70 on the exit exam you have an 88% chance of passing the nclex.....good luck.

Where you in the Evening Program?

Passed Nursing 101 fundamentals of nursing at Harcum, very crazy very hard. Does any one have any advice on what to expect for Nursing 103 it is a 7 week course and we have a test every week and instructor is E. Cratin.

I will be attending the evening nursing program for May 2012...has anything changed with their program...are things better now? Any comments/suggestions are appreciated. Thanks!!!
