Failed in PA... I need helpful information on reregistering!

sad to say it but i am one of the graduate nurses who took the nclex rn, got all 265 questions, and just found out today that i failed

so my question is, how do i go about taking the test again? i know i have to pay pearson vue the 200$ again, which i already did, but do i need to send the pa state board of nursing another form to get approved for the test? and how long do i have to wait to re-take the exam, is it 45 or 91 days? any step-by-step information about taking the test a second time and an average time frame would be greatly appreciated, as i am kind of depressed about the whole thing.

thanks! i just got the info in the mail today, so i will provide the info for others who do not pass. i'm not upset now, i found out i was "near the passing standard" on every topic... good but i still didn't pass! i'm okay with it also because i didn't get a gn job so i don't have to explain it to anyone, besides the people i want to. here you all are, i'm sure someone will find some comfort in this, you're not alone.

1. although the kaplan book i have says 91 days to retake the exam, the pa board paper i received states "45 days elapse since the most recent test date." so don't :barf01: closer then you think to retake it!

2. you must send in your temporary practice permit to the boards immediately after u get all the info that you failed in the mail (the actual paper with the seal on it) and must stop practicing immediately (if you have a gn job).

3. fill out the pa board of nursing re-exam application paper they send you with $30 and the tpp as mentioned in #2.

4. apply to pearson vue again and pay the $200.00 (again). whichever way you did it the first time, they send you another book with the papers in it if u need them.

done! now study and wait a bit to re-take, and keep

:balloons:Sorry to hear you were so close and did not reach the passing level. Here is what I did to prepare, I took two review classes prior to taking the NCLEX RN back in September 15, 07. The first one was through my school and put on by U and the second one was put on by stat nursing you can reach them at www.statnursing.org there program is hard but gave some tips on test taking. they focus on how to answer tyhe questions rather than the material. there book ISBN number they used is 978-0-9640556-3-6 if you want to look it up. Practice lots of questions ..like 100/night. keep your answers and grade your "test" no matter how many questions you do at a time. Even if you do 10 questions... grade it to see where you are at % wise. I was around 65-75% up to a high of 85% on some topics when I graded myself. If you need to review a certain topic by grading yourself you will see where you need to review. Dont think you have to review everything you learned in nursing school, you dont, besides you will go nuts trying to cram 2-3 yr nursing school into 45 days. If you contact stat nursing they will help you as well. They will tell you to wait till you get about 75% acuracy using a few different review books. I primarily used Mosby's Review cards to study from including Saunders. If your looking for a good review book, find one that has the rational for the right and wrong answers! most only have rational for the right answer and never helped me because I could see why the right answer was right, but did not know why the wrond answers were wrong. whoa, now i have a quick question. you said i must stop practicing. is that mean they gonna let me go? because i'll be working as gn, and will be taking the nclex maybe 3 weeks after i start. do anyone know that answer to that? will my hospital terminate my employment?

I still have 8 month left but I know people in both a RN program and a LPN program. They both started working as a GN, took the NCLEX and failed it. They both had to work as an aide until they took the test again, that holds the nurse position and they still have a little bit of an income. One worked at a hospital the other at a LTC facility.
