Drexel Nursing ACE Program Fall 2013

U.S.A. Pennsylvania

Published

HI guys, so I am very new to this but I am EXTREMELY anxious about getting accepted into this program for the Fall. I have a Public Health Degree and have quite some experience in the Health field (ie. hospitals, senior living home, companion care, education).

Reading other forums I really don't know what my chances are of getting in. I have seen someone with a cum. gpa of 2.6 get in, while someone with a 3.0 get denied. Anyone who has applied, have you heard back from yet? Do you know anyone who was accepted into the spring 2013 semester.

I'm praying EXTRA hard. I never wanted anything so much in my life. All my Application materials have been in since August 6.

I've taken the computer application class, it's basically an introduction to computers and all the basic stuff. Are you planning on dorming or are you looking at apartments?

Hi hellonurse were you accepted into the fall 2013 there is a group on Facebook. Email me at [email protected] if anything

I applied for the Spring 2014 ACEterm and I'm wondering if those who've been accepted previously have any general advice? I have my B.S. in Special Education and I've decided I want work in the nursing field. I have an undergrad GPA of 3.3 and experience teaching students with severe & profound intellectual & physical disabilities. Is it too early to start taking microbiology, chemistry, ethics, nutrition, etc.? If you're missing most of the pre-reqs are you likely not to be accepted at all? I love working and making a difference in the lives of those who need it most, I love teaching but there is not enough challenge or independence within the field. I am hopeful I will get into the ACE program but with the lack of pre-reqs I'm wondering if my chances are shot...any advice/information would be greatly appreciated.

britt 42, I received my provisional acceptance letter today. I have A&P 2, Chem, Micro, and Dev. Psych left to take so don't count yourself out based on pre-reqs. I'm taking A&P in the late summer session at CCP, Micro and Chem at CCP in the fall, and Dev Psych at in the fall. I applied a few days after the deadline, sent my transcripts right away, and received my letter today. Good luck and I hope to see you in the Spring!!

Hello fall 2013!!! I was hoping some previous ACE students could provide some information on the clinicals. I was recently diagnosed with anxiety and have a xanax prescription. I only use it for episodes, but I was worried about drug testing throughout the year. I assume that we are going to use different hospitals throughout the year for clinicals, and I also assume that we are going to be tested before each clinical. Should I inform about the prescription, or should I just tell each individual hospital? I would hate for there to be an issue because of miscommunication!

After the initial drug testing for compliance, we won't have to repeat it for every clinical. Just that once. If you want, I don't think it would hurt to inform the compliance officer prior to completing compliance of your situation.

Hope that helps!

Hey! I'm looking to apply to the ACE program this October, this forum has helped a lot! But, wondering if someone can help me clear something up. What counts as the last 60 credits when determining GPA? I didn't do too well my Junior year at Rutgers. I'm taking 11 credits now for my prereqs. So, counting the 30 credits from my senior year, and the 11 credits from my prereqs, I'd be at 41 credits. How would they determine what to use for the 19 credits from my Junior year? Because I'm borderline on the 3.0 GPA and I failed Organic Chemistry 2 my junior year and not sure how this will effect the GPA calculation.

Also, I've been working as a CNA for the past year. Does that help my chances at all?

I think they literally take your last 60 credits and calculate your GPA from there. As long as you show them that your grades have increased, you should have a chance. Organic Chemistry 2 is not a prerequisite. You can calculate your last 60 credits yourself, just google "calculate last 60 credits."

The only thing they consider is GPA and meeting the prerequisite requirements. I don't think it matters if your credits were from an ivy league school in biology or a state school in art. That's the extent of their selection process. They seem to let in as many people as possible. Just a word of caution: Many of the people they let in do not make it through the program.

Congrats everyone for getting in. I just finished Q2. It's tough, but stay ahead and you can do it. Maybe I'll see some of you around in a couple weeks.
