Any insight to DeSales, West Chester or Eastern University BSN2 Program

U.S.A. Pennsylvania

Hi everyone,

I'm a newbie making a HUGE life change as I pursue a nursing career. I have a non-nurse college degree, so I am looking into Accelerated BSN programs at 3 different schools in the Philadelphia suburbs. From previous posts on this site, I do have a little insight into West Chester's & DeSales's programs. There has not been much said about Eastern University's program though. 1 think I like about Eastern is that they are a 2 year program (not really considered accelerated), so I could do an externship the summer between year 1 & 2.

If anyone has gone to or is currently going to any of these schools, I'd love your insight...the good, the bad & the ugly.

I am trying to have all of my pre-reqs complete by December so I can start a program in May, but I don't know if my chances are less since I won't be done them all yet if I try to apply in the Fall. I don't want to wait until Dec to apply b/c I'm afraid I won't get in if all of the other applicants apply before me.

I really really really hope to get in for May 2012 so I don't have to wait another whole year. I'm not getting any younger:(

I will not be able to get a good night's rest until I am accepted into a program...I'm pretty stressed about just chosing the right school. Then I'm sure I still won't get a good night's sleep once I'm in school either, but I know it will be worth all of the hard work & stress in the long run. Above all else, I am really excited about my future!

Thanks for any responses:)

The only one of these schools that I looked into when I was looking for schools was West Chester. Personally I thought the West Chester nursing school was too small. It's just a small part of a building, and from what I could tell I don't think that it's a great program. Plus the amount of people who pass the NCLEX on their first try is in the low 80s. As for DeSales and Eastern I don't know!

Im a student at West Chester University public health degree and hope to apply and be accepted to their Advanced to BSN program for next May. I absolutely LOVE west chester as a college. They are the cheapest (as of now, I know they are increasing the tuition though because of the budget) but I think they are great. I spoke to some of the students in the advanced to BSN program and they said the program was very disorganized and a lot of last minute decisions had to be made. They didnt tell me the exact reasons behind that, but they said If i can handle last minute stuff then Ill be okay. They also said the staff tended to spend more time with the traditional undergrad students... (I dont no why). But one of the students told me a lot of other prospective students looked into Immaculata traditional program which is only taking them 2 years to complete. Im applying for WCU, Jefferson, , and maybe Villanova.. but my first choice is definetely WCU. Im trying to save up all my money... but Im a single mother so the schedule is what I really need to look at. WCU's schedule is, from what the other students tell me, between 3 to 4 days during the summer from 9 am - 3 pm..clinicals rotate. But, during the semesters its only 1 evening per week but with clinicals rotating. So I def recommend WCU if your schedule is tight like mine. :-)

Im a student at njcu gettin a bs in business. I am now looking for a accelerated bsn program. Right now I am looking at Desales and Jefferson, but leaning towards Desales because I heard good things. I have a 3.3 gpa as I am currently finishing up my bs in business and will start my bsn prereqs while i finish my bs. I hope I get into Desales without i problem for the 2012 year.
