2013 CCP Nursing Program

U.S.A. Pennsylvania

Published

Hello Everyone,

Wanted to get this started for those who have applied to the program this year and want to get to know other applicants. I was accepted into the CCP nursing program for the 2012 fall semester start date. I attended until 6 weeks before the semester ended. Sadly I had to medically withdraw from the program so in order to continue I had to reapply and start over again. I am hoping to get back in this year. I look forward to talking to other people who have applied and get accepted.

Do u have to have A&P 109 before the fall semester because its not letting me register for the diet course.I was originally told you can register both courses for the fall. Can someone please clarify this for me.

Bio 109 is not a prereq..its a coreq for Diet 111 so in order to register for diet you have to first show that you are registered for bio109. so register for that and then you can go back in and register for diet111, after yuo have registered for both of those you can register for nursing 101.

Thank you!!! I have a question..I was reading the 2012 forum and wanted to know if you had any issue with wearing the navy scrub pants you bought at a different store? I understand the ones from the other place are horrible!

Thanks!

Danielle

I bought my scrub pants from another store after I got my polo's and jacket, you just have to make sure its the same color navy since they're are a few different shades. I waited until I got the other parts of my uniform before buying the pants so I could make sure the color matched.

Just to let you know, if you are registering for A&P and Diet you need to take into account when you will be in nursing class. Mon and Tuesday morning you have lecture. Mon-8am-10:10am Tues. 8-9am, Tuesday after lecture you have seminar from 9:35-10:35am then you have lab which you can take right after lecture on monday, 10:20-12:20pm, Tuesday after seminar 11:10-1:10 or 1:30-3:30pm or you can take it on wednesday at various times through the morning. Then take into account that clinicals are Thurs and Fri from 8am-2pm. So that being said you need to schedule your other classes around that schedule. And also take into account that after 5 weeks you will be in a hospital on thursday and friday and you don't know until week 5 where your going so don't schedule a class at 2:30pm on thursday and friday because you may be on the other side of the city for clinicals and won't make it to class in time.

Hi guys! I'm new to this forum. I just got accepted into the Nursing program as well. I haven't received my letter, I just saw the change on my enrollment profile. I was just curious if anyone else has applied to other programs, such as BSN programs? I applied for 's accelerated BSN program and will be hearing back from them mid-April to May. Do you know when I have to turn in the 50.00 deposit and if there's a a way I can wait first to see if I get into the other program? Thanks!

Your deposit is due by April 12th I believe. I was accepted into GMC's bachelors program so I am going there. Because all of my classes from CCP transfer over I am able to get my BSN in 3 yrs instead of 4.

I would send in your deposit just in case. Its only $50 so if you don't go you are not losing that much. GMC's deposit was $125.

Cupid...where did you get your scrub pants from? I live in Far Northeast and was just trying to research where to go. I'm trying to buy as much as I can now before I leave my job in June.

After months of waiting I checked my enrollment profile today and found out I'm in!!! So excited!!! Can't wait to meet everyone in the fall!!

Thank you! for the info Cupid, it was very helpful. I was able to register for all the classes.I think I might take bio 109 in the summer to reduce the load during the fall. I want to be able to focus more on my nursing courses.

I would highly recommend that. I would also see about taking Diet as well. Nursing 101 is extremely difficult in itself. The amount of reading can be really overwhelming. I would take as much as you can now. I'm not sure what your home situation is like but when I was taking Nurs 101 I also took A&P2. I have a 2 yr old. and I was pregnant with my son. I didn't work. It was a lot of work doing both classes, and finding the time to get everything done.. especially when tests would overlap in the same week. Nurs101 typically is 3 tests and then a final. The amount of material you are being tested on comes from all 4 parts of the class..lecture, seminar, lab, and clinical. You are not learning the same material at the same time. You may be working on pharmacology in lecture and doing mobility in lab. So you literally have like 10-20 different topics your being tested on. Its pretty crazy.

Here is an example of all the topics that we were tested on for our first exam to give you an idea:

Lecture

Intro to Pharm

Neuro/Pain

Lab

Mobility

Hygiene/Asepsis

Seminar

Legal

Nursing Process

ACE

Health Assess

Health Promotion

Vital Signs

Nursing Process

Psychosocial across lifespan

Pediatric

Head, Skin, Nails, etc.

Between all the powerpoints, reading assignments, etc. Me and my friends had 50 page study guides for each exam..lol
