Congrats! In order to continue into the program you will need to have the fingerprint scan, child abuse clearance, background check, proof of health insurance and , cpr certification, drug screening, social security number verification and updated vaccinations. All of these are due by July 13th. Since your orientation is in a few days I recommend getting what you can done today just as the background check, liability insurance so you can bring it with you. You will just have to make another trip down to main campus to drop off the rest when you have it.

Orientation discusses class schedule, uniforms, etc.

What is CST? That class is neither a prereq or requirement for Nursing. Do you mean STS (

Science, Technology, Society)? because that class is a prereq to get into Nursing unless you take Bio106 and Chem 110. Have you taken Bio109, Diet 111, and Eng 101? Because those 3 classes plus Nursing 101 are all required for Fall. If your taking an additional class I saw good luck because Nursing 101 is 4 days a week, 2- 7hr clinical days, and 2 additional in the classroom days which are approx 3-4hr for both days. Having a full schedule with BIO,DIET, and ENG is extremely tough but to manage another class as well is going to be very overwhelming. You'll be taking like 20 credits which I don't even know if they will allow without submitting a petition for extra credits.

Are you sure you took the Nursing Allied Health test or are you talking about the entrance test for CCP placement into english and math?

If your talking about the basic entrance test, then you first need to sit it on the Nursing School Meeting where they give you the application to apply to the nursing program...you have to check for when that starts. I believe in October. You would then be applying for the 2013 Nursing entrance because it only occurs once a year. You then would schedule your Allied Health Test and make sue you have your prereq's done which include having gotten a C or above in HS BIO and CHEM in the last ten years or retaking them at ccp. There is the optional STS101 class which is CCP's version of taking those class but it combines them into one. That class is not offered every semester so you would need to register as soon as possible. You have to place into Eng 101 and Math 118, if you have not, and you need the precollege level math or english you will need to take them in the fall because it is required that you be math 118 and eng 101 ready when you start Nursing.

If you do not have your prereq's done or are not taking them in fall they won't even give you the application to apply for the Nursing program. I suggest if you are english 101 and math 118 ready look into the nursing programs class schedule and start taking the courses that are required for it. Each Nursing course is a 4 part process, lecture, lab, seminar, and clinicals so for just that one class you will be in school or in a hospital setting 4 days a week. The more you ca get done prior to starting the lighter your load will be when you start. If you chose to not get them out of the way you will be in school most likely 5 days a week 8 hours a day.

CST is the program they automatically place you in if you indicate you are interested in the nursing program. You'll have to apply for the nursing program when you're ready, and you can do so any and every fall. Just go to the counseling center in the October and ask for the schedule for the "Nursing Application Groups." That's when they explain everything and give you an application.

It's a good idea to get your co-requisites out of the way before applying to the nursing program depending on how much time you have. Like your English, Algebra, Anatomy, etc. They will explain it at your orientation and it's on the website.

They look at three things when deciding who to admit:

1) Your GPA

2) Your pattern of academic success (how many D's F's and W's)

3) Your score on the Allied Health Test, which they will schedule you for after you apply to the nursing program.

Just be sure not to withdraw from any classes and get as high of a GPA as you possibly can from your classes, 3.5 is ideal. For the Allied Health Test, get really fast with your arithmetic, practice reading comprehension and know your grammar.

Thanx, for the quick reply and info . I took the entrance exam two weeks ago not the aht and they said that my first class(es) would be culture, science and technology. When i i filled out the application online i put that i wanted aa in nursing, they said i didn't have my prereqs done so they changed my degree status to aa in arts. So i called yesterday to ask what that was abt. I told them that i attended p.i.t and asked them if my credits would tranfer over from that school and they said yes as long as the grade is a c or better. I don't mind having to take the required info back down there thats not an issue.

I went and picked up my unofficial trnscript from p.i.t today and my gpa was a 2.46 which i know is low (smh) i had failed one class with an f which was medical terminolgy 2 but i had to retake that class and passed with a *b*. I was going for medical assisting but for some reason they continued to have me down for medical billing and coding. I was almost done and ready to be sent out for extern and i got sick really bad where i had to be hospitalized and had death in the family around the same time so they withdrew me and said i didn't show up. But a month and a half later they brung me back for a shadow classes and that was that.. I jst know my chances are slim to none getting in this program. Smh!!

Like Shahoo said Culture Science and Technology is not a class its a major. A lot of times the counselors have no idea what they are talking about. Did they tell you what prereq's you needed in order to apply for Nursing? If so register for those classes ASAP because registration for fall started in April so classes fill up quickly. If you do not get them done in time to apply for Fall 2013 Nursing you will have to wait an entire year to apply which is why it is critical that you get them done so you do not have to waste a year. Go to CCP's website and check out the Nursing programs classes. If your done your prereq's start taking the required courses for the program so that come Fall 2013 you won't have as much classes to take.

I went to orientation, got my i.d, scheduled my classes and got the needed info but thanx again!!!

Hey guys, do we use the same textbook for Anatomy 1 and 2? I still have yet to take the some classes because I couldn't get the Philly tuition rate till now, so I'm taking Anatomy 1 in the second summer session. I want to start studying the book before class starts. If we use the same book for both classes, about how much is covered in Anatomy 1? I don't want to study too far in. Thx :)

Yes, you use the same book and the same lab book for both 109 and 110.

In 109 you go from chapter 1(levels of organization/cell and chemistry review) through 18(the endocrine system).

In 110 you start back up at chapter 19(blood) and end at the end of the book with the reproductive system/development.

That said, depending on who you have as a teacher you might cover different chapters more in depth than others and only sort of deal with some of them in your labs. Good luck! If I can answer anything else let me know.

Yes you will use the same book. My A&P 1 teacher did not go through every chapter 1-18 I recommend reading certain chapters like the brain, skeletal system, skin, endocrine system. You will definitely have labs where you dissect an eye and brain and look at tissue/cell samples under a microscope...unless because its summer they may skip certain things. I'm taking A&P 2 the second summer session. Hopefully we both get good teachers. My A&P 1 teacher was bad. He didn't teach at all. I got a B but I worked my butt off to get it. Practically had to teach myself everything.
