Pediatric Cardiology

Hello all!

I am currently an LPN working in Addictions Nursing. I have an interview at a Pediatric Cardiology office. As an LPN, what duties can I expect to do in this environment. I previously worked in family medicine but did not like the environment much. I liked the office environment but not so much the sick visits which were generally just for colds. In a specialty, I am assuming it would be more of following up on chronic or new conditions. Is this correct? I do have hospital experience in which I worked on a cardiac unit. We would perform EKGS, etc.

Any advice for the interview or simply describing your day to day activities would be super helpful. Thank you :)

I have no idea about clinic nursing. However, I think you can probably anticipate the kind of patients you would see and you should familiarize yourself with the diagnoses in case they ask during the interview- i.e., transposition of the great vessels, PDA, HLHS, Tetrology of Fallot, VSD, murmurs, etc.

Also student athlete cardiology clearance is becoming the new trend. Mandated in some states even. (ECG, echo sometimes stress test in search for long QT or some rare syndromes that can result in sudden cardiac death when the cardiopulmonary system is taxed to the maximum as some HS teams do now
