Hi everyone! I need some advice, word of encouragement or anything to help.I am a foreign grad RN-BSN. My first nursing job here in the USA was a staff nurse at a long term rehab for children.. (2006-2009). Then my husband and i relocated few months after my daughter was born. I was able to find a homecare job (pediatrics)which is so flexible that really helps. Year 2012im still doing homecare, but i want to grow and learn more, career wise. I tried to look for some jobs in the hospital, but was so discouraging after few interviews, they're looking if i have acute care experience. Which i dont have. Its so frustrating to get into the hospital, considering im not a fresh grad. What would be the best thing to do?

Sorry to hear that you are having a hard time getting into a hospital setting. You're not alone. There are literally thousands of experienced RN's looking for work right now. Its a sign of the times. Hospitals are cutting back and hiring is frozen at lots of places. Don't give up. Keep looking, something will come up.

Watersamy, thanks for the encouragement..i will keep looking..It meant a lot!

What hospitals are you applying for? I'd suggest trying community hospitals and then once you get the acute care experience they're looking for, you can try for the larger teaching hospitals, if that's what you're looking for.
