Nursing Students Technicians

I am sooo excited!! I got approved for the WIA program and believe I am going to go Chattahouchee Tech in Marietta. It will only take 4 months to get certified. I previously worked as a CNA in nursing homes and also as a PCT in the ICU of Cartersville Medical Center. I am nervous because I have been out of this field for about 10 years but soo thrilled since it is my passion!!! I will go further to get my RN degree. I do need some advice I am taking the TABE test on the 16th. They referred me to website but it just had a bunch of links that made you buy something. I need help and Im low on cash. Also I was wondering if I should start job shopping. Does anyone have any leads?? I prefer hospital work since I have experience in that environment.

I passed my TABE. I had 12.9 in the eng and reading and had a score of 8 in math. I studied a little and raised it to a 9 for the school. 8 was the minium passing for WIA program.

That is excellent! College level in Reading and English and far above the average American in Math!! You will do great in the PCT program then in the RN program!

I just saw this about the expungement. I volunteer with my church already. I am looking into expungement. Thanks again for the website will keep u posted.

Great that you volunteer with your church already! I'm so glad that you are looking into expungement. There are a lot of hoops to jump through but it really can make all of the difference!!

Will you be able to start the program this session/semester?

I missed this session. It started Sept. 9th. So I will have to start Jan. 14.

I met with the WIA lady and changed from PCT to medical assistant. she claimed i would make more money. i researched her and found websites that said yes and no. i mean i have good icu experience and nursing home and i made 12.00 an hour with a shift bonus back in 2002 in ga. I checked out the school and feel in love with it after meeting the admissions lady whose been there for 20 yrs. the also had job placement. they help you with your resume and do mock interviews. when i am done in 8 months i will have an associates of occupational degree. i thought that was cool not just a certificate! I am excited. WIA only pays 5,000.00 but I got a pell grant for the rest! its almost 17,000.00 scholarship!!! praise god!!!

I am on a budget! list of items needed

-royal blue scrubs (someone said garden ridge top $5 bottom $5

-white shoes

-big lunch bag

-wheeled bag for books(they have no lockers. i just had work injury where i feel pretty bag wheels great chioce!!)

That's good girl. :-)

Pell grant from fasfa?

yes im just glad to have no student loan!! I have already one ive been referring. How is your stuff coming along? What were you going to use WIA for?

I think an MA is a better choice if you want to eventually go to nursing school. So glad it's going well!!!
