Clackamas CC interviews this week

Anyone interviewing at Clackamas this week? My impression of the program is very good. Selective process, focus on quality vs. quantity, nice new health careers building. I'm really hoping for this one. Didn't get chosen in the lottery at Portland CC but that was ok because I'm holding out for Clackamas anyway. I wish they wouldn't torture us making their acceptance decisions so late, though!

Anyone know what color scrubs the nursing students wear? (Important stuff, I know.);)

Good luck on your interview! I think they wear blue scrubs, from what I have seen during rotations, but could be wrong. The only local college that I have seen in any other color is Clark CC- white.

The interview went great, we'll find out at the end of this week.

The problem is, they interviewed the top 95 of 700 applicants...so everybody is really good, and they only have 40 spots.

The group interview questions were all critical thinking, and I have plenty of common sense but I'm counting on learning that stuff in nursing school, not before, so I didn't do badly, but I don't know if I dazzled them either.

And no, I didn't ask about the scrubs! Then they'd be on to me that my number one priority is buying my cute scrubs and danskos asap!:roll

Do you mind telling me what you gpa was? And also, what did you get in A & P?

They're changing some of the pre-reqs and the application process for next year. There is supposed to be just one application for ALL the nursing programs around here and then you check your preferences for 3 locations, but all colleges will see your app, so no more filling out several. I'm going to start working on my pre-reqs in the fall. I'm pretty sure I'm gonna need to get A's across the board to even be considered.

I forgot about the new consortium with MCC and CCC and OHSU etc... I have no advice except to get the highest grades that you can. Good luck guys!

That would be great to have just one application. Each one costs money, besides getting official transcripts together and jumping through everyone's hoops.

To answer your question, I had a 4.0 in all my pre-req's and co-req's. I accomplished that by only taking one class per term, not by being a genius! Don't let anybody scare you about A&P , you can get an A. But I would recommend asking classmates who the good teachers are, chances are most of them will be prenursing too and you will get strong opinions.

Micro will be a walk in the park if you take it after a/p because you'll know so much already.

Clackamas gives brownie points for having the co-requisites done too.

Since I have a 4 and 5 yr old, I'll only be able to take one pre-pre req. for the 2006-2007 year. But in Fall 2007 I'll start my pre-reqs and I plan to take 2 classes max. per semester. And then all the co-reqs.

The nursing adviser said 9 credits of the nursing program are the equivalent to 12-15 of regular credits so it was best to get the co-reqs done ahead of time or you'd end up with a VERY heavy work and study load.

I wish you well with your CCC application. They have a great program and it's so worth it to jump through all the hoops you have to to get in. That way you get to go through school with a group of students that worked really hard to get in and intend to keep working hard through the whole program, group projects were hardly ever a chore. Clinical opportunities are awesome and so are the instructors. 'Course I'm a little biased because I graduated from there.:)

Good luck! (btw, the scrubs are navy blue...they're notorious for attracting the lint off the white hospital linens like crazy. ;) )
