Applying to Portland Schools with PreReqs not done?

Hi everyone,

I wanted to see if anyone has had luck getting into Portland nursing schools with pre-reqs not yet completed. I was a valedictorian candidate for my Bachelor's degree, and so far I have completed Statistics, A&P 1, Developmental Psych and Chem with a 4.0.

I am planning on applying to UP AEM, OHSU, and possibly Linfield since this will be my second degree. My only concern is that I still have two quarters of A&P, Microbiology, and Nutrition to complete before the programs start in the summer. I am already registered for them, but and I know the websites say you can apply as long as they are done by the program start, but do I even have a chance of getting in with all the competition??

I don't know about the other two - but for UP's AEM UP program you can apply without the prerequisites being complete. They just must be completed before the program begins and you have to outline for them what your exact timeline is for completion.

The deadline has already passed for admission into UP for summer 2010's cohort. It was November 2nd. But as long as they don't fill the cohort with the first round of admissions they will look at incoming applications on a rolling admission. You can always contact Stacey Boatright at the nursing school - she's the counselor for the program.

You can apply but keep in mind there are so many other people applying not only with them done but with 4.0's. I would not waste themoney until they are done.

Yes, I agree. Moreover, 4.0 GPAs are not what they used to be. It's so competitive to get into nursing programs today, not having a 4.0 makes one look, well....less than average. I have all the pre-reqs done with one B and even that raises an eyebrow of disapproval. Be prepared to walk on water to get in.
