Applicants to Portland area schools

Greetings fellow future nurses! I just mailed my application packets for Mt. Hood CC, Clackamas CC, and Portland CC today and excited to be done with them. I have my proctored essay for OHSU this Wednesday and am a little worried because I have NO idea what is going to be asked. I haven't been able to get any feedback on what is on any of the essays. I am also applying to Chemeketa but am probable wasting my time as I am missing 2 of the pre-recs required there that aren't required at the OCNE schools. Well, the worst they can say is no, right?

Anyway, the Oregon Nursing Programs sections has been a little dead lately so I was hoping to spark some dialogue. This is my first year applying and I'm already getting a little stressed. I kind of have a lot riding on getting in somewhere next fall. My fiance and I are kind of planning on it. I'm hoping that doesn't backfire! How's it going with everyone?

I wasn't aware CCC did interviews? I believe it's pretty much based on scores and essay. I have a feeling instructors are on or give input to the committee.

CCC does group interviews and the panel is made up of instructors. There's also an essay portion at the time of the interview.

OHSU letters for their BSN program are starting to trickle in! Has anyone been gotten theirs yet? I'm still waiting...

I have a friend that got hers for Salem OHSU almost 2 weeks ago, for the regular BSN. Haven't heard of anyone from Portland yet. Must be happening soon...

I think the other OHSU campuses have sent theirs out. OHSU Portland is the only one left. I am curious though if any Portland applicants have got theirs yet.

The OIT Kfalls campus sends theirs out this week as well. My friends applied to Monmouth and heard two weeks ago....I wish they sent them all out at the same time!

Hello everyone:)

I just found this forum and am so excited about it! This is my second year applying to nursing school in Portland area. Last year I had just the bare minimums to apply so I did, and of course did not get in. This year all my prereqs are done and I applied to PCC, U of P and OHSU. With 58 points I did not make it to the essay. U of P placed me on a wait list and I am still waiting on OHSU. I wonder what my chances are of actually getting into the program at U of P from a wait list. Anyone has any ideas?

I am in the similar boat. 58 points for PCC, 3.8 GPA, experience, took all pre-reqs at PCC. Did not get invited for an essay:( Extremely disapointed!

Heard nothing from OHSU BSN program yet. I heard that they will be coming this week though:) Fingers crossed:)

Valeria, where did you hear that the OHSU letters are coming this week? I just had a little run of V-tach at reading that sentence. After getting rejected by Mt Hood when I expected to get at least an alternate spot there I'm bracing for the worst from all schools and formulating a plan B if I don't get in.

If there are any CNA's that are looking a job in the Milwaukie area, by the Willamette river, that is flexible let me know. I work for a company that totally believes in "school first" and I love it there! I go to school and work PT and they work around my schedule. They even hired me knowing I was going into a program in the Fall. So seriously, if anyone is looking...I think there are both FT & PT, and a Med Aid position (which they totally need! but is FT).

Great opportunity to work for a super great company!
